World Heritage idea fulfilled:
Introduction of standard city tour prices
Regensburg. No matter the duration of a stay in Regensburg – whether it be a few hours, a
few days or an entire lifetime, as a tourist or a local -, a tour through the historic centre is
simply a must – for orientation, familiarisation and enjoyment. The new prices for 2015 see
the Regensburg Tourist Guide Association, kulttouren e.V., and Regensburg Tourismus
GmbH achieve a vision first conceived in 2011: offering guests of different nationalities and
language backgrounds city tours under the same conditions. In doing so, Regensburg acts as
a pioneer in Germany.
Planning the new prices was a combined effort, involving market research, proposals,
discussions, compromises and temporary agreement. Last year, the jointly devised price list
was then presented to the managers by the executive board and approved by all parties. For
German-speaking groups, the new price sees a moderate increase after many years, while
foreign-language groups enjoy a reduction – a general adjustment has thus been made.
Classics are popular
Whether it be “Regensburg, experience a historic city”, “Beer and vitality” or “A world heritage
safari”, over 110 trained guides pick up on various urban history themes in more than 50
different tours. “But the most popular city tours have for years been the classics: the tour
through the historic centre with the cathedral, Stone Bridge and Sausage Kitchen”, says
Sabine Teisinger, manager of the Tourist Information Office. When it comes to the themed
tours, “Gell, da schaust”, “In the mood for Regensburg” and “Open sesame” top the list.
In 2015, kulttouren e.V. and Regensburg Tourismus GmbH will continue to focus on the
popular classics, but have also included new tours such as “Money governs world
leadership”, an extension to the special tour of the Bavarian State Exhibition.

“We are constantly working to optimise our product – service and quality must be just right
when visiting Regensburg, and our official, certified guides ensure we’re well equipped. After
all, they often play the role of first host for the city”, Teisinger explains.
