Grow mustard as intercrop as 20:1 ratio to attract diamond back moths for oviposition. 2. Periodically spray the mustard crop with insecticide to avoid the dispersal of the larvae. 3. Install pheromone traps at 12 Nos/ha. Puducherry & Karaikal Weather based Agro-Advisories To control powdery mildew in rice fallow pulses, spray 5% Neem Seed Kernel Extract or Mancozeb @ 400 g/ac or Wettable Sulphur @ 1 kg/ac during morning or evening hours. Two percent of DAP spray (Dissolve 4.5 kg of DAP in 10 litres of water previous day night and the supernatant liquid shall be mixed with 190 litres of water) may be done at the time of flowering and another dose fifteen days after the first spray for rice fallow pulses. Flowering stage Do foliar spray of pulse wonder 5 kg/ ha at flowering stage or DAP 20 g/ l once at flowering and another at 15 days thereafter. Chilli Fruiting stage The expected weather during the coming days is conducive for the incidence of muranai mite in chilli. For controlling this pest spray dicofol 2 ml/ l or wettable sulphur 2 g/ l. Chilli Fruiting stage In the expected weather incidence of dieback and fruit rot disease is observed in chilli. The affected plants show drying of leaves from tip and spots appear on ripened fruits. For controlling this disease spray mancozeb 1 kg/ ha or copper oxy chloride 1.5 kg/ ha. SMS: Rain: March 7th to 10th: 2, 2, 1 & 1 mm, respectively. Chilli- muranai mite- spray dicofol 2 ml/ l or wettable sulphur 2 g/ l. Namakkal, Salem,Dharmapuri & Krishnagiri A) Special Weather Advisory Bulletin for Dairy and Poultry Farming: 1. Continued high wind speed likely to sustain day time temperature near 36.0°C (96.8°F). High wind speed also favor gradual rise in day time temperature without any acute shoot-up which may improve bird’s tolerance to heat. However, continue use of heat stress alleviating medicines in poultry feed. 2. Post mortem observations in the birds brought for diagnostic purpose at Poultry Disease Diagnosis and Surveillance Laboratory, VC & RI, Namakkal revealed death of birds due to Ranikhet disease and heat stress. Test for RD titre in birds at this laboratory and vaccinate the birds accordingly and follow summer management in the farm. B) Special Agroadvisory from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Namakkal: 3. As this season is suitable for tomato cultivation, it can be cultivated at 2 x 2 spaces in double rows. Before cultivation, tomato seedlings can be soaked in Trichoderma viride and Pseudomonas fluorescens mixture (30 g/lit of water). Dindigul • • • • Since there is forecast of light rainfall adequate precautionary measures need to be taken while doing harvesting and post harvesting. Depending upon local weather and soil moisture condition irrigation can be planned. Though forecast of light rain, but prevailing temperature is increasing that will conducive for the incidence of wilt disease in Tomato at vegetative to flowering stage, for controlling mix 2.5 kg of Trichoderma viride 1% WP in 150 Kg of compost or Farm Yard Manure and apply this mixture in field. The expected weather will conducive for the incidence of dieback and fruit rot disease in chilli at fruiting stage. For controlling this disease spray mancozeb 1 kg/ ha or copper oxy chloride 1.5 kg/ ha. • Madurai,Pudukotai & Sivagangai • • • Since there is forecast of light rainfall adequate precautionary measures need to be taken while doing harvesting and post harvesting. Depending upon local weather and soil moisture condition irrigation can be planned. Since the prevailing temperature is increasing that will conducive for incidence of pest and diseases in vegetables. For control adequate precautionary measures need to be taken. Ramanathapuram • • • Since there is forecast of very light rainfall adequate precautionary measures need to be taken while doing harvesting and post harvesting. Depending upon local weather and soil moisture condition irrigation can be planned. Since there is partly cloudiness is expecting that will conducive for spreading of diseases in vegetables. For control adequate precautionary measures need to be taken. Theni • • • • Since there is forecast of moderate rainfall adequate precautionary measures need to be taken while doing harvesting and post harvesting. Animals should not be allowed for grazing during hot part of the day, provide cool drinking water and shade to the • • • animals to reduce heat stress. 2. Sheep and Goats should be dewormed by using broad spectrum antihelmintics. 3. Backyard poultry farmer advised to vaccinate against ranikhet disease Chennai Agriculture Paddy crop under growing stage. 2. Bacterial leaf blight and false smut incidence was found in rice, farmers can take proper plant protection measures and spray copper hydroxide @ 2.5g/litre. 3. To control paddy blast disease spray hexaconazole 2g/litre twice at weekly intervals. Foliar application of 0.2% Pseudomonas fluorescens spray to increase yield. 4. For the management of powdery mildew disease, spray Carbendazim 200 g/acre or wettable sulphur 600 g/acre. In rice fallow black gram, Pod borer damage is also noticed. To Control this, spray Diclorvos at 100 ml / acre or Quinalphos 4D 4 kg/acre. In rice fallow black gram, foliar spray Pulse wonder @ 2 kg/ acre once at flowering or DAP 20 g/ lit once at flowering and 15 days thereafter. Perambalur Crop: Cotton, Rice, Sugarcane, and Banana Stage: Rice- Late Samba / Thaladi – Maturity and Harvesting stage, Seasam: Sowing and vegetative stage. Harvesting of the matured samba paddy can be taken up by using the dry weather expected. Harvested paddy seeds may be dried at moisture less than 13% using the current dry weather condition to prevent stored pests damage. Sesame varieties suitable for Masipattam are TMV 4, TMV 7 and VRI 1 Thin out the seedlings to spacing of 15 cm between the plants on 15 DAS, give one Pre-flowering irrigation on 25 DAS.
