GOH SOON TIOE CENTENARY AWARD 2015 The Goh Soon Tioe Centenary Fund is an endowed Fund administered by the Community Foundation of Singapore (CFS). The Award was established in 2011, the birth centenary of Singapore’s pioneer violinist, pedagogue, impresario and conductor. The award of $6000 will be given to a violinist or string player who has shown a consistent track record of outstanding musicianship and performance. Priority will be given to violinists. 2012: Helena Dawn Yah 2013: Li Yongrui 2014: Alan Choo Eligibility: Singapore citizen or Singapore PR born between 1990 and 2000. Priority will be given to Singapore citizens. Application procedure: Submission of application form together with relevant documentation of musical activities and achievements. Priority will be given to Singapore citizens. Selection criteria: Applicants will submit an application form together with referrals and evidence of musical achievements and activities. Short-listed candidates will be auditioned and interviewed in June/July 2015. The award will be given to any violinist or string player considered by the selection committee to have shown a consistent track record of outstanding musicianship and performance. Priority will be given to violinists No award will be given if in the opinion of the selection committee there is no deserving applicant The award-winner can receive the award only ONCE. Concurrent Awards: The award-winner may hold other scholarships/awards concurrently. Distribution of Award: The award may be used for violin tuition fees, recital expenses, attendance at music camps and music festivals, overseas orchestra projects, violin competitions, purchase of sheet music, purchase of instrument or other purposes deemed suitable by the selection committee. Requirements: The Award-winner will present a short recital for donors of the Goh Soon Tioe Centenary Fund within 6 months of winning of the Award The Award winner will submit a report on use of funds to CFS, six months after receiving the cheque. AUDITION REPERTOIRE Violin : ● Unaccompanied Bach: Tempo di Borea and Double (Partita no.1 BWV 1002) Sarabande and Gigue (Partita no.2 BWV 1004) Loure and Gavotte en Rondeau (Partita no.3 BWV 1006) Concerto: Slow movement from Mendelssohn Concerto in E minor Wieniwski Concerto no2 in D minor Tchaikovsky Concerto in D major Bruch Concerto no 1 in G minor Short piece by Kriesler: Recitativo and Scherzo Caprice Viola, cello and double bass applicants to submit repertoire (attach to this form)consisting of a movement from an unaccompanied Bach sonata, a complete concerto, and a short piece written in the 20 th century (specify year of composition) 5.AWARD WINNER’S RECITAL Within 6 months of winning the Award The award winner will be required to give a short recital at the award ceremony attended by donors to the Fund. 6.
