Groves Medifast I am thrilled to report that thanks to the incredible generosity of Mr. Peter Angelos and the Baltimore Orioles, we are now renovating the 16th floor Grill into what will become a sports themed grill equipped with multiple large screen TVs, an intimate bar, and memorabilia reminiscent of our City’s unique sports history. This new space will also feature lounge areas, a place to work, a more casual menu than in our Main Dining Room, and a more relaxed dress code. More details will follow as we look forward to a late Spring/Summer opening. We will also add new furnishings to our 15th floor Bar100 with a few special touches you are sure to enjoy. By now, most of you have probably noticed the new “Point of Sale” system which promises to make ordering and service even more efficient and effective for members. Also, now when you bring guests and wish to split the check, your guests can be presented with individual credit card receipts—and you can be presented a receipt with charges to your house account—prior to leaving the Club. See page 4 to learn more about these helpful options. As always, special thanks to our terrific staff for overseeing many of these changes and improvements. She celebrated her one-year anniversary as Pastry Chef of The Center Club in February. She is a graduate of the Lincoln Culinary Institute and previously worked at VOLT in garde manger and as assistant Pastry Chef. Will was also recognized as Employee of the Month in December. In May, he will celebrate four years at the Club making sure everything is clean and polished. He heard about a job opening at the Club from his wife’s grandmother who worked at the Club for 18 years. Before discovering her passion for culinary arts, Heather owned a dance studio in Westminster and taught tap, jazz and hip hop to students of all age. “I love working in fine dining because it is an art, similar to my background in dance.” She has learned all of the signature desserts at the Club such as the Alsatian Cheesecake and Flourless Chocolate Cake—and has said they are a science to perfect! Her favorite thing about her job is being able to be creative and create new desserts. In her spare time, Heather likes going to concerts, especially alternative rock. She also loves going out to eat, and her favorite foods are sushi and tomato soup. 4 Will was born and raised in Baltimore and is a die-hard Ravens fan. He never misses a game and his all-time favorite Ravens are Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Steve Smith. He is married and has three daughters ages 22, 19 and 9. “When I’m not working I can be found with my youngest daughter. We do everything together—skating, karate and seeing movies.” Will is very handy and enjoys fixing things.
