St Patrick’s Day Parade
Planning is under way f or our St Patricks Day Parade here in Sneem. We are having our parade on Tuesday the 17th March. Gathering in Galvan's Yard, Waterville
Road f rom 11.45am, all f loats must be in place by 12.15pm f or the parade to start at
12.30pm sharp. No cars are to be lef t in the yard as it will be locked af ter the last
f loat has lef t. Prizes f or the f loats are 1st, 2nd,3rd in the Motorised category and
1st , 2nd, 3rd in the Walking Category, best overall and best newcomer.
So get your thinking caps on for your float and please let us know if you are

Best Dressed Window and Best Dressed Spectator
There is also a prize f or the best dressed Business Window and Best dressed spectator on the day. So get decorating those windows and raid your wardrobe for your
costume.

Year. This is a person or persons who helps the village in any way and does this on
a Voluntary basis and needs rewarding.

Golf Putting Quiz
After some very close and exciting contests in Sneem Hotel last Saturday night
the stage is set for the concluding stages of this year’s golf putting quiz. The semif inals and f inal take place this Saturday night at 9pm. The contenders that will battle it out for f inal honours are the teams led by John D O’Sullivan, Stephanie Cahill, Mike Merrill and Sean McCarthy.

The Youth Club have their f loat organised for the St. Patricks Day Parade, if any

Sneem Rowing Club
We had a good turnout at our AGM on Saturday 21st February where our committee f or the coming year was elected. Breda O’Neill stepped down as Secretary,
we would like to thank Breda for all her hard work and commitment over the years
with the club and would like to wish her all the best.
Membership for the year an d 100 Club ren ewal for t he c oming year
2015/2016 is now due. Anyone who would like to join up can do so by contacting
a committee member or dropping into Fiona in the Window Box. Thanks again f or
your support and here's to another great season ahead.
Sneem Rowing Club
Holding a Table Quiz in Sneem House, on Saturday 14th March at 9pm. Tables of
4 €20. 00. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Sneem Bord Na nÓg
Registration evening will be held on Friday 6th of March in Sneem House
from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Registration forms will be made available prior to
the registration evening. All players must be registered.
Bord na nÓg will be hosting a table quiz on Holy Thursday, 2nd of April in
Riney's Bar at 9pm. Great Prizes!
Bingo
Weekly Bingo will commence on Thursday 12th March in the Community Centre
at 8pm. A Jackpot of €100.00 is on off er and all proceeds are in aid of the Community Cent re restoration f und.
Coomanassig Day Centre
Chiropodist: Chiropodist will attend Coomanassig Day Centre on Friday 13th
March f rom 9.30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.
Coffee Morning in aid of Daffodil Day will be held at Coomanassig Day Centre
on Friday 13th March f rom 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. All welcome.
Kenmare and District Garden Club
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, 5th March at 7.30 p.m. at Gateway and we
are f ortunate to have Frances McDonald f rom the Bay Garden in Enniscorthy
speaking about herbaceous plants.
Daffodil Day 2015
It's that time of year again, we need to think of Daffodil Day (March 27th) and
coff ee mornings. If you would like to hold one just contact me and I will give you a
box f or the money to be collected in. Nearly €1000.00 is gathered each year on
these coff ee mornings and anyone could hold one. A cup of tea/coff ee and a biscuit - no f uss! Anytime between now and Easter. Thank you to anyone who has

Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP)
The time has f inally come to showcase our chocolate
treats made in conjunction with Lorge Chocolates, Bonane. We will have our launch on the Friday 6th of
March at 1:30 pm at the school. All are welcome. Tea
and coff ee will be served.
The Big Travel Challenge.
We were delighted with the tremendous success of our Park and Stride initiative and we
certainly succeeded in promoting a cleaner,
greener and more sustainable mode of travel.
We were f ortunate that the weather enabled us
to walk most days and we look f orward to keeping up the good practice. Thank you to everybody for the support.
Film Maker In Residence
Lights! Camera! Action! We had great f un last week filming “The King Of Tahilla”,
a comedy in which all our budding movie stars took part. We were f ortunate to
have the opportunity to work with Éanna De Buis f rom Waterville who is the current “f ilm maker in residence” with Kerry County Council, supported by The Arts
Council. Our budding Spielberg's’ learnt about all the f acets of movie making.
They were out and about while shooting the scenes at a variety of locations and
their colourf ul costumes added greatly to the movie making experience. We excitedly await the release of our short f ilm!!

Sightsavers Junior Painter Awards 2015.
Melanie Schmidt’s painting, ‘I want you to see an Indian sunset’,
is 5th/6th class Munster Regional Winner of Sightsavers Junior
Painter of the Year competition f or 2015. Congratulations Melanie! The Junior P ainter Awards is an ideal opportunity f or Irish
primary school children to express their artistic talents whilst
appreciating the value of their eyesight and the challenges f acing those less fortunate than themselves in a f un and interactive
manner. Melanie’s prize consists of materials and vouchers

Wild Atlantic Challenge Cycle
In aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research

This charity cycle is a controlled speed cycle, the aim is to keep the group together all the way!
This will make an ideal practise cycle f or the Ring of Kerry Cycle in July.
