The New England Center for Investigative Reporting,
based at Boston University's College of Communication,
is again offering a unique Investigative Journalism Workshop this summer. This program, now
in its seventh year, would be a perfect fit for your students who are interested in journalism or
writing. Nearly 130 students from 23 states and 13 countries attended last summer's
workshop, and we are expecting sessions to fill up quickly for 2015.
Our three two-week workshops will begin on June 29. During each session, students
participate in seminars and work alongside BU faculty and award-winning local and national
journalists on investigative stories that could be published on the center's website or in
regional and national publications. Students will live on the BU campus and gain hands-on
experience in investigative reporting while developing critical thinking and writing skills.

The Smokewood Institute for Young Writers
Welcome to the Smokewood Institute for Young Writers, an intensive two week program of writing workshops,
craft sessions, creative readings, and a culminating anthology of student work.
Our curriculum consists of a complete Introductory Creative Writing course. This 3-credit course counts toward
our English major here at OCU.* The next Smokewood Institute will run from July 12-25, 2015.
Class sessions and accommodations will be housed on OCU’s campus, in a summer camp environment.
We welcome serious students working in any genre, of varying styles. To be eligible, students must have
completed at least their sophomore year, and certain test scores and GPA may be required. For more

Competition is an opportunity for students ages 11 - 18 to present a Magna Carta for today that
safeguards and promotes the rights, privileges, and liberties of either the United States or the world.
About the National Competition


Essay contestants must present a creative essay that is a Magna Carta for the 21st century.
The My Magna Carta Essay Competition is open to students ages 11-18.
o The Junior Competition is for students 11-14. The essay entries must be between 500-750 words.
o The Senior Competition is for students 15-18. The essay entries must be between 750-1250 words.

The Austin College Early Scholars program allows talented high
school students to earn transferable college credit while developing the

All Oklahoma PTA Scholarship Application

All Oklahoma PTA is accepting applications for its 2015 Scholarship Program. Scholarships have a minimum award value of
$500. Applications are limited to seniors graduating from any Oklahoma high school. Applicants must be a member of their
local high school PTA or PTSA or they can join All Oklahoma PTA if there is not a PTA or PTSA at their school.
Membership information for All Oklahoma PTA is included below. Membership will be verified with the respective PTA unit.
Eligible applicants must attend an Oklahoma college or university. There is no restriction on field of study. Please note that

The Oklahoma City All Sports Association awards two (2) $1,000 scholarships annually to an outstanding senior girl and senior
