March 2015 Fun The Village News Facts The word ‘March’ comes from the Roman ‘Martius’. This was originally the first month of the Roman calendar, and was named after Mars, the god of war. March was the beginning of our calendar year, however it was changed to the ‘New Style’ or ‘Gregorian’ calendar in 1752, and it is only since then that the year begins with January. In the UK, March is National Bed Month. In the US, March 1 is National Pig Day. It is also ‘Share a Smile Day’ and ‘Peanut Butter Lover’s Day.’ 2015 Village Board Elected Village property owners gathered at HMR Ranch House on Thursday, February 19 for the 2015 Annual Meeting of The Village at High Meadow Community Association.
