The word ‘March’
comes from the
Roman ‘Martius’.
This was originally
the first month of
the Roman calendar, and was
named after Mars,
the god of war.
March was the
beginning of our
calendar year,
however it was
changed to the
‘New Style’ or
‘Gregorian’ calendar in 1752, and it
is only since then
that the year begins with January.
In the UK, March
is National Bed
Month.
In the US, March
1 is National Pig
Day. It is also
‘Share a Smile
Day’ and ‘Peanut
Butter Lover’s
Day.’
2015 Village Board Elected
Village property owners gathered
at HMR Ranch House on Thursday, February 19 for the 2015
Annual Meeting of The Village at
High Meadow Community Association. The purpose of the meeting was to elect 3 new Directors
to serve on the Board. New
Board members elected were Bud
Irving, Pat Kennedy and Andra
Heitzman. These Board members
will each serve a 2 year term.
Returning Board members include Cindy Hendrix, Melissa
Boland and Darrel Weidner.
In a brief organizational meeting,
the new 2015 Board elected the
following officers: Cindy Hendrix/President, Melissa Boland/
ACC Chair & Vice President,
Darrel Weidner/Treasurer, Andra Heitzman/Secretary, Bud
Irving/Maintenance and Pat Ken-
nedy/Security. Gay Lewis remains as an Alternate to the
Board this year.
The new Board agreed to move
the monthly Board business meetings to the fourth Tuesday of
every month, rather than the
third Thursday as was last year.
The hope is to avoid conflicts
with other activities scheduled.
Unless notified, meetings will be
held at The Village Recreation
Center located at 29332 Champions Drive from 7-8PM. The new

Time For SPRING CLEAN UP!!!!
Spring. Just the sound of the
word makes you feel like opening
the windows, sweeping out cobwebs and tidying up. Now that
the weather is warming up, it’s
time to get outside and enjoy the
fresh air of our beautiful neighborhood. But wait….if you look
closely as you go on your walk
you’ll see it—TRASH. A carelessly
tossed water bottle, empty cup,
and other items litter the streets.
Yes, it’s time to join your neighbors at the Village Recreation
Center to help “sweep” in and
pick up the litter that has been
accumulating on our Village
streets.
Garbage bags, gloves and Village
“street assignments” will be handed out Saturday morning, March
7 at 9AM. This is a great activity
for young and old alike, so join us
to help clean up our neighborhood and make the Village shine!

2015 “Standing Rules” for Monthly Business Meetings
The 2015 Board believes it can best serve the community if each business meeting is
conducted in an orderly manner, and requests your full and complete cooperation in
this regard. It is important for Board members to hear from members who have questions or information regarding the community. The 2015 Board has decided to conduct the monthly business meetings under these guidelines:

Meetings get a bad
rap, and deservedly
promptly closed at 8:00 p.m.

The Open Forum will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. only and this time
frame will be strictly adhered to.

Questions and/or comments will only be accepted during the Open Forum.

If you wish to speak during the Open Forum, please raise your hand. Do Not
Interrupt while someone else is speaking.

Any member wishing to address the membership shall speak no longer than two
(2) minutes. No member may speak more than twice on any one subject, and no
more than two (2) minutes each time.

Topics, questions, and/or comments made during the Open Forum will not be
addressed by the Board unless those items are already listed on the Agenda for
the meeting.

You are encouraged to e-mail Spectrum ([email protected]) or the
Board Secretary ([email protected]) prior to the board meeting if you would
like a topic specifically addressed as an agenda item during the meeting. This
so - most are
disorganized and
distracted. But
they can be a
critical tool for
getting your team
on the same page.

Board Meetings will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The meeting will be
must be received at least 1 week prior to the Board Meeting for consideration.
The Board does retain the right to reject any proposed item for the Agenda.

Members in the audience should refrain from engaging in conversation among
themselves or otherwise disrupting the meeting. (Private conversations among
members in the audience are distracting to the conduct of the meeting. If you
wish to carry on a conversation with another member, please step out into the
hall).

Welcome New Neighbors!
Looking For New Member
The new 2015 Village Directories haven’t been wide-
to Village property owners attending the Annual HOA Meeting last week. If you were
unable to pick up your new 2015 Directory,
you may pick up a new Directory during the
Village Spring Clean Up on Saturday, March 7
at The Village Recreation Center between 9

With the annual election finished the
ACC committee lost one of its members to
a board elected position. The ACC committee under the guidelines of our DRs
must operate with 4 members of the community and 1 chairperson. The ACC committee is down one member with the election of Pat Kennedy. We are looking for
one member to add to our great commit-
ly distributed, and we already have a new addition!

HMR/Village Exercise!
There will be several Friday PiYo classes in
March, beginning at 9 a.m. Hopefully that is
less in the middle of the day for folks.
*We will ADD a bonus PiYo on Monday,
March 16th.
Also, if you are considering coming to a particular class (especially our regular yoga or PiYo
classes) but feel a little intimidated by the format, please let me know. We can always schedule a one-on-one class first, so that you know
what to expect.
Village Ladies let the good times roll at the
February Village Ladies “Mardi Gras” luncheon at the home of Lynn Irving.
Next month’s luncheon will be a “field trip”
and shopping! Watch your email for more
information.
Lastly, last year we had a lot of success with our
Spring Clean Eating challenge. This is a great
way to refresh as we head into Spring. We’ll
be doing the same thing this year.
