Pulsar, the high pulse voltage
E.S.E. lightning conductor
ABOUT HÉLITA
Hélita founded in 1932, is a world leader in direct lightning
top technical schools and Universities, the company prepares
protection. Over 200 000 references testify to Hélita’s
tomorrow’s lightning protection and is the forerunner in its
presence throughout the world. In collaboration with CNRS
sector. These extensive research programs have led Hélita to
(French National Scientific Research Organization), ANVAR
file several patents worldwide.
(French National Agency for the Valorization of Research),
AN EFFICIENT INITIATION ADVANCE
Thanks to its initiation advance, the Pulsar emits a high
voltage signal at clearly determined and controlled
frequency and amplitude.
Its effectiveness is guaranteed by the rapid formation
and propagation of the upward leader, while reducing
the development of space charges around the point.
ENERGY AUTONOMY
The Pulsar is also self-contained. It draws its energy
from the ambient electric field existing at the time of the
storm (10 to 20 kV/m). The initiation advance starts up as
soon as the ambient field exceeds a peak value which
corresponds to the minimum lightning strike risk.
A PROVEN EFFICIENC Y
For over 18 years Hélita has run more than 40 000
strikes in various H.V laboratories to validate the
efficiency of its Pulsar lightning conductors. Hélita is the
only ESE manufacturer in the world having performed so
many tests to measure the values of time gain.
Pulsar range performances (∆T values) are certified by
the main Official Governmental Third Party Organisation.

PROTECTED AREA S
The radius of protection Rp of a Pulsar is given
Radius of protection as per NF C 17-102 Standard - 1995
by French standard NF C 17-102 of july 1995.
Level of protection
It depends on the initiation advance ∆T of
I (D = 20 m)
h(m)
II (D = 45 m)
III (D = 60 m)
