SONIFI Solutions TV Compatibility Program SONIFI Solutions has established a TV Compatibility Program to help hotel owners and operators identify HDTV models that are compatible with SONIFI free-‐to-‐guest (FTG) and/or interactive TV (ITV) systems (which includes those installed under the LodgeNet and On Command brands). Please note that our compatibility testing does not evaluate or rate TVs for issues such as performance, picture quality and reliability. TV manufacturers submit a single TV to SONIFI for testing as representative of an entire model line; therefore it is critical that you receive written assurance from your TV manufacturer that 1) the TVs you have selected are fully compatible as purchased with your SONIFI system, and 2) the manufacturer will provide after-‐the-‐sale service and support. SONIFI is not responsible for TV service issues. All SONIFI customers are strongly advised to call their SONIFI customer service representative prior to purchasing new TVs to verify they have the appropriate terminals and installation kits for interfacing those devices with their existing SONIFI system. EXPLANATION OF CATEGORIES SONIFI designates compatible TV models according to the following three categories: Embedded b-‐LAN (EBL) EBL TV models have built-‐in technology to work with SONIFI FTG and/or ITV systems. They have SONIFI’s b-‐LAN circuitry embedded in the TV and require only that the TV be properly configured to turn on the EBL functionality. •
For FTG only hotels, no additional in-‐room hardware is required as the TV manufacturer’s remote control can be used. •
For LodgeNet iTV systems, the only additional in-‐room hardware required is LodgeNet’s remote control, which must be programmed for proper operation with each specific TV manufacturer. •
For On Command iTV systems, an external Commander set-‐back box and an On Command remote control are required. The Commander and the remote control must be programmed for proper operation with each specific TV manufacturer. EBL TV models are MPEG-‐4 capable, supporting MPEG-‐4 as well as MPEG-‐2 program streams. They may or may not support IPTV (please refer to the IPTV Capable list). HD Capable HD Capable TV models are capable of working with SONIFI FTG and/or iTV systems (typically, in conjunction with required external hardware and software). Some of these models are only MPEG-‐2 compatible and do not support MPEG-‐4 program streams. As there are a wide range of configurations and in-‐room hardware/software requirements for HD Capable TV models, we recommend contacting our 24-‐hour Technical Assistance Center to determine installation guidelines before making your TV purchase. IPTV Capable IPTV Capable TV models are capable of working with SONIFI IPTV FTG and/or iTV systems (typically, in conjunction with required external hardware and software). As there are distinct requirements for these models as well as the hotel’s IP network, we recommend contacting our 24-‐hour Technical Assistance Center to determine installation guidelines before making your TV purchase.
