HOME FELLOWSHIP OUTLINE VOL. 11 NO. 10/2015 INTRODUCTION: The passage points to us that God was the one who chose Aaron and his sons to be priests. The passage further explains the specific design of the Priesthood Garments and their significance. DISCUSSION GUIDE: The bible is very unassuming in sanctuary details and procedures that should take place before God. 1. PRIESTS' ROBES The main aims are: a. For covering-Exod.28:42-43 b. For glory and beauty-Exod.28:2,40 c. For service Exod.28:1,41,43a. d. For office identity-Exod.28:1 e. For the consecration event-Exod.28:4b 2. 3. The design must be from: a. The best available materials by donation - Exod. 28:5-6a b. Concerted best available skills - Exod.28:3a, 6,8. The robe complements include among others: a. A robe-Exod. 28:4 b. A breastplate -Exod. 28:4 c. An Ephod-Exod. 28:4 d. A coat-Exod. 28:4 e. A turban-Exod. 28:4 f. A girdle-Exod.28:4 g. Attachments for 12 tribes of Israel by name-Exod.28:9-12 h. Precious stones incorporation - Exod.28:15-20 i. Functional title as a reminder - Exod.28:36-38 CONCLUSION: It is difficult for us to grasp the gravity of the priests' responsibility as they ministered before the living God. They had to serve God with a pure heart, to represent the people without guile, and to worship without deviating from the commands of God. To fail would invite judgement-even death, sadly, priests did die because they failed to show respect for the holiness of God (Lev.10:1,2; 1 Sam.4:17; 2 Sam.6:7) MEMORY VERSE: Aaron and his sons must wear them whenever they enter the Tent of Meeting or approach the altar to minister in the Holy Place, so that they will not incur guilt and die. "This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants. Exod.28:43 ============================================= M. THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK SUNDAY – 8TH MARCH, 2015 TODAY’S TOPIC: THE CROSS: THE WAY OF LIFE AND PEACE READINGS: Psalm 115:1-7; Genesis 7:17-24; Colossians 1:24-29; Luke 9:18-27; Psalm 119:105-120; Exodus 5:1-6; Luke 22:54-End. Dearly beloved, you are welcome into the presence of God this Sunday. As we go into the week, the powerful hands of God will shield us from every snare of the enemy in Jesus name. Amen. Every Christian is duty bound to understand the promises made concerning the second return of Christ. This is a reality which Christians should not receive with levity. May we all be part of the heavenly fellowship at the end of age in Jesus name. The topic for our meditation is “The Cross: The Way of Life & Peace. The cross is the confirmation of the accounts in the book of Numbers 21:7-9. 7 So the people came to Moses and said, "We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and you; intercede with the LORD, that He may remove the serpents from us." And Moses interceded for the people. 8 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, he will live."9 And Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived. 5. Confirmed in the book of John 3:13-15 C. Elderly Ministry 13"No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. 14"As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Man be lifted up;15so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. All Senior Citizens are welcome every Tuesday from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm for all or any of the following: i. Monthly Meeting establishing factor for a new covenant, thereby destroying the old 2nd & 3rd Monday of the Month at 1st Floor, Vining covenant with His death and resurrection and giving us life. House by 6.00p.m. ii. The cross symbolises 1. Life 2. Peace 3. Our salvation 4. Our deliverance 5. Our healing 6. Our peace with God 7. Our access to God among many iii. Through the cross we got life as recoded in John Chapter 10:10; The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Therefore we enjoy the following benefit through the cross: 1. Reconciliation to God The reconciliation that needs to happen between man and God goes both ways. God‘s first act in reconciling us to himself was to remove the obstacle that separated him from us—the guilt of our sin. He took the steps we could not take to remove his own judgment by sending Jesus to suffer in our place: ―While we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son‖ (Romans 5:10). Reconciliation from our side is simply to receive what God has already done, the way we receive an infinitely valuable gift. 2. Home Fellowships: Since when have you attended the Home Fellowship nearest to you? If you are not attending, you are not building up yourself spiritually and you are not building up the Body of Christ. All Parishioners and their friends are encouraged to attend a Home Fellowship of their Choice and convenience near their homes or work places. Please check the list of Home Fellowship Centres pasted on the Notice Board in front of the Church or contact: 08033100270, or the Church Office. God‘s love Visitation: The work is on for the Church to visit you at home. It is not that you are sick or involved in any mishap but being a member, some representatives of the Church will visit and fellowship with you. It costs you nothing. We only want you to know that we love you. Please allow them in when they come. You will be able to identify them. Volunteers can be young people who want to be Elderly Friendly, or adults who want to share love with people as Jesus commands us. We shall appreciate Volunteers who believe God is calling them to these duties. Do you know any Parishioner who needs to be visited by the Church? Please send the name and address to the Evangelical Ministry for a follow-up. Especially during this period, we need to spread love through Visitations. E. Counseling Ministry Please take advantage of the Cathedral Counselling Ministry. It involves every aspect of Human Endeavour, which includes but is not limited to Marriage, Business, and Career. We have a monthly Family Evening where we bring the current needs of Families into focus. Please let the Cathedral know your needs and be assured that there are people that will assist. If you wish to talk to somebody for Counselling, please call: 08037605902, available on 24 hour basis. F. Prisons & Hospital Ministry The measure of God‘s love is shown by the degree of his sacrifice in saving us from the penalty of our sins: ―he gave his only Son‖ (John 3:16). When we add the horrific crucifixion that Christ endured, it becomes clear that the sacrifice the Father and the Son made to save us was indescribably great! The measure of his love increases still more when we consider the degree of our unworthiness. ―God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us‖ (Romans 5:8). Our debt is so great, only a divine sacrifice could pay it. 6. “I was sick and you visited Me, I was in Prison and you came to Me” (Matt. 25:36). Join us, you are invited. Our activities include:- (a) Hospital Visitation every 3rd and last Sundays of the month. Discharged and acquainted {no more condemned} The great conclusion to the suffering and death of Christ is this: ―There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus‖ (Romans 8:1). To be ―in Christ‖ means to be in relationship to him by faith. Christ becomes our punishment (which we don‘t have to bear) and our worth before God (which we cannot earn). The death of Christ secures freedom from condemnation for those who believe that Christ has served their death sentence. It is as sure that they cannot be condemned as it is sure that Christ died! 4. Give eternal life to all who believe on Him Jesus made it plain that rejecting the eternal life he offered would result in the misery of eternity in hell: ―Whoever does not believe is condemned already....the wrath of God remains on him‖ (John 3:18, 36). The scripture also says in John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. It is through Jesus that we have life and that life is in His Son. When a man accepts Christ as his Lord and Saviour, He (Jesus) takes over that man‘s life, so that the life he begins to live is no more his but that of Christ. At this point, Christianity in and by that man becomes his way of life He begins to live his life in line with that of Christ. No more shall such a person live by the standard of this world but by biblical standard. Everyone therefore that have this life enjoys peace with God all the days of his life. He also have access to the peace of God even in the midst of troubles. No wonder the Bible says in the book of Ephesians 2:14- 18. 14. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Stop running from pillar to poll, come to Him who has the key to life and peace and your entire trouble shall be forgotten. The yoke shall be broken and you will be delivered. Peace of God be with you. 7. 6.
