The Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) hosted for the first time ever the epic CANA Zone 3 and 4 Swimming Championships in Kampala. The event attracted 11 countries and over 300 swimmers. The event allowed Uganda swimmers and fans to be exposed to an international event and swimmers from East and Southern Africa. In another first, USF was invited to make a presentation at the 3rd FINA World Aquatic Convention in Doha Qatar. This we believe is a strong testament to the positive developments in Ugandan Swimming. We are also pleased to see the increase in the number of swimming clubs. 2014 saw the number grow from about 3 clubs to over 7 active clubs and over 24 schools. It is clear that swimming is becoming more and more popular and with more swimmers in the pool. We also able to participate in regional events in Nairobi where Seals Swim Club and Dolphin Swim Clubs registered very impressive results. In addition we had swimmers take part in the African Youth Games in Gaborone and Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Building the capacity of our sports administrators remains a strategic area of focus. WAY FORWARD Set up a National Aquatic Center committee. Revise the USF a strategic plan which is linked to the FINA development plan, UOC strategic plan and national sports policy ( yet to come into force).
