Oshaw a RiverK ings Jr. A Hockey Club Program Overview: Oshawa RiverKings are a new expansion Tier 2 Jr A team to the Greater Metro Jr. A Hockey League (GMHL) and will start their inaugural season September 2015. The GMHL has been in existence since 2006 and currently has 22 teams. The Oshawa RiverKings will have a Pro. Affiliate of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Mississippi RiverKings along with a scouting staff that has affiliations to US Prep Schools. This season our intensions are to further develop young Hockey players on and off the ice to achieve their goals. The RiverKings home arena will be The Legends Center in Oshawa Ontario. Home games will be played on Monday evening and will consist of 21 home and away games for a total of a 42 game schedule. The RiverKings will practice 3 weekdays a week with a total of 4.5 hours. This season we will have our own dressing room for the year in efforts to make each players experience as professional as possible. The GMHL was established in 2006 with 7 teams and has been operating smoothly since. The GMHL currently has 22 teams that stretch from North West Ontario, Southern Ontario and now Eastern Ontario. The GMHL is a great pathway for overlooked players still working hard to achieve a NCAA scholarship or Pro. Contract. There has been many of GMHL alumni that have gone on to the NCAA or signing Professional contracts. This season we have teamed up with our Professional affiliate Mississippi RiverKings of the Southern Professional Hockey League. We are dedicated to develop our young athlete to have a great chance of making a professional teams roster. Also this season we are glad to announce or Head Prep School scout who will help our players understand and make opportunities for them to attend a top US Prep schools. Our motto is “Integrity, Respect and Hard work”. We practice this every day as our goal is to develop young athletes to help them advance to a higher level athletically and academically. We strive to develop young people to enter the world as fine outstanding human beings. Coaching Staff: Head Coach Kahlil Thomas brings over a decade of experience as a former Professional Player and Coach. 12 years of Professional experience along with 2 years Professional coaching and over 8 years of Minor hockey coaching at the AA and AAA levels. Thomas holds coaching credentials in both the U.S and Canada with Level 4 USA certified and High Performance 1 Hockey Canada certification. Kahlil Thomas brings a championship attitude winning three Professional Championships and two All Star Appearances as a forward and defenseman. Kahlil also won playoff MVP in 2002 while scoring the winning goal in double overtime to win the Presidents Cup of the Central Hockey League. Program Includes: • 42 game schedule + Playoffs (Monday evening Home games) • 1 Tournament • 2 – 3 games a week • 3 weekday practices a week ( 4.5 hours total) Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 3:45pm-‐5:15pm • Professional coaching and training • Professional Strength & Conditioning Workouts • Team Dressing Room for the season • Bus to games outside of the Greater Toronto Area • Pro.
