Introduction
Platforms at Moorfields station
will close in phases from Monday
13 April 2015 until April 2016,
whilst the station is refurbished.
Platforms, walkways and the
upper and lower concourse areas
are all being refurbished, giving
an improved and altogether more
enjoyable travel experience.
Phase 1 – Wirral Line Platform 3
Closed 13 April to 2 August 2015
Phase 2 – Northern Line Platform 2
(towards Sandhills)
Closed 3 August to 15 November 2015
Phase 3 – Northern Line Platform 1
(towards Liverpool Central and
Hunts Cross)
Closed 4 January to April 2016
During the phased closures, trains will still run
through Moorfields station but will not stop.
This booklet contains travel information to
make your journey as easy as possible.

Wirral Line Platform 3

13 April – 2 August 2015
The Wirral line platform (platform 3) at
Moorfields station will be the first to close for its
transformation. Trains will run to a normal timetable,
however no Wirral trains will stop at Moorfields
between 13 April – 2 August 2015.
Rail Replacement Buses
Rail replacement buses will run in a loop between
Moorfields station and St George’s Hall on Lime Street,
for passengers wishing to access Lime Street and
Liverpool Central stations. Buses will run every 5 minutes
between 07:00 and 19:00, Monday to Saturday and at 10
minute intervals at all other times.

At Liverpool Central catch any Northern line

There is an entrance to James Street station on Water Street.
It is open from 07:00 to 10:00 and 15:00 to 18:00, Monday to
Friday and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The route can
also be used to exit the station between these times, however
the incline is steep and there are two flights of stairs.
Journey times shown are a guide and will vary depending on the time of day
you are travelling. Please allow extra time for your journey and check the
last train times when travelling at night.

Planned engineering work will take place affecting all
Northern line services between:
Special travel arrangements will be put in place during
the major events taking place in the city during 2015.

Three Queens
Rail replacement buses will run between Hunts Cross
& Sandhills and Sandhills & Liverpool city centre.
Rail replacement buses will stop at Moorfields station
and St George’s Hall on Lime Street, for passengers
wishing to access Lime Street and Liverpool Central
stations.

Ormskirk or Southport to Moorfields or you travel
from Moorfields to Hunts Cross, there are a number
of alternative travel options available to you.
If you travel to Moorfields on the Kirkby,
Ormskirk or Southport lines
• Alight at Liverpool Central and walk to your
final destination.
• Travel to Liverpool Central and change
onto any service to Kirkby, Ormskirk or
Southport. Travel back to Moorfields and
alight on platform 2.
