This year the Forum will look beyond
the current disagreements surrounding
a ban on beaching. Delegates will
be tasked with the clear purpose of
creating a vision of ship recycling - a
near-future reality that shipowners can
embrace as part of their operations as
comfortably as newbuilding supervision.
Looking forward positively does not
mean glossing over the difficult areas,
but rather remaining focused on the
destination rather than the potholes in
the road.

Looking beyond the current
disagreements over the regulations, this
session will examine how ship recycling
is moving into the mainstream and what
it means for ship owners and operators.
With the background of Hapag Lloyd’s
decision to reject beaching permanently,
the session will discuss whether Green
Recycling is destined to remain the
preserve of ‘big shipping’, contrasting
with the commercial reality of top-dollar
considerations for the vast majority.

of shipowners hiding behind the veil of
small company constraints or simply
