Celebrate and get inspired Easter activities
As part of the Commonwealth Games Bounce, funding for Commonwealth Games
sports is being used to fund our Easter Programme. Below is a list of activities which
are free to children this holiday.
Netball Camp
This camp will provide fun and encouragement to children who are looking to
improve skills and enhance confidence while challenging each individual to develop
their game.

Come and Try Athletics
An opportunity to Run, Jump and Throw with Orkney Athletic Club coaches during
the holidays. This camps aim to provide 2 fun days of athletics activities and games
for children aged from 7 to 9 whilst under the watchful eye of Orkney’s excellent
coaches. So, whether you are looking for your first taste of the sport or are already
involved with an athletics club and want to hone your skills, this camp is the ideal
thing to keep you busy this Easter!

Hockey Taster Sessions
Orkney Hockey Youth Development is offering fun taster sessions for all abilities.
Whether you are new and want to enjoy your first hockey experiences or have
played before, these taster sessions are designed for everyone to benefit, enjoy and
develop their game in a fun and safe learning environment.

Badminton Sessions
These sessions will give participants the opportunity to have some fun games and
drills in a relaxed and supervised environment. These sessions are ideal for players
of all abilities whether you are new and want to enjoy your first badminton
experience or have played before. These taster sessions are designed for everyone
to benefit, enjoy and develop their skills and game.

An opportunity for P1-3 children to take part in various sporting activities. A variety of
Commonwealth Sports will be on offer along with other popular sporting activities. An
ideal opportunity to introduce your child to the world of sport.

Free Swims
Free Swim sessions are being offered at Stromness Swimming Pool as part of the
Commonwealth Bounce. Just turn up on the day. Pool rules and regulations apply.

Outdoor Education
Archery
Learn the basics and get shooting! Real bows, real arrows, real fun! It doesn't take
long to get the hang of using our top quality gear, once you're on target it's
competition time! Perfect for beginners or those with experience, join us to shoot
some arrows.

Bike Camp
Our Bike Camp is aimed at the adventurous biker. During this camp participants will
have the opportunity to learn and practice various off and on road biking skills in
various terrains.

Kirkwall Grammar School Activities
Boxercise
Boxercise is a fun, challenging and safe activity, based on the training concepts
boxers use to keep fit. This class may involve shadow-boxing, skipping, hitting pads,
press-ups, shuttle-runs and sit-ups. These taster sessions are aimed at 8+ years
whatever their fitness or gender.
Please Note, this class involves no physical hitting of any opponent.

and are ready to progress into deep water and attempt the ‘triple S deepender’
award.
