MODEL ASEM SINGAPORE 2015 THE SILK ROAD RENAISSANCE: REDEFINING ASIA-EUROPE SOCIO-CULTURAL & ECONOMIC ENGAGEMENT 10th April to 12th April | National University of Singapore What is Model ASEM Singapore 2015? Model ASEM Singapore 2015 will be held from 10 – 12 April 2015 at the National University of Singapore (NUS) where 150 youth participants will role-play as leaders representing the 53 ASEM Member countries. The initiative aims to enhance the understanding of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) process amongst youth leaders in Asia and Europe. The three-day simulation incorporates elements of the actual ASEM Summit as well as adds complementary features into the programme that further enhance the diplomatic, consensus-building, negotiation and persuasion skills of our youth leaders. Benefits of Participation Allow youth leaders to gain better knowledge and awareness of the ASEM members. Offer youth leaders the opportunity to engage in intense discussions on ASEM priorities in an atmosphere that places emphasis on mutual respect and tolerance. Provide a channel for young people from ASEM countries to share their views on Asia-Europe relations and to cooperate on a common vision towards an ideal ASEM. Allow youth leaders to learn skills and build capacity in the fields of research, public speaking, teamwork, communication, problem-solving and consensus-building. Facilitate networking among youth leaders from ASEM countries. Selection Criteria Citizen of any of the 53 ASEM Member countries Youths between 18 and 28 years old Fluent in English (verbal and written) Participants will be selected based on their profile, motivation, as well as geographical and gender balance Financial Costs of Participation No registration/participation fees for the selected youths Meals will be provided during the Forum For youths not residing in Singapore or based overseas, they will be solely responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
