ADULT CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE (ACHD) www.ChildrensOmaha.org
Adolescents and adults with congenital heart disease have different considerations than children. Because
of these factors, we have developed the region’s only specialized team to care for these patients. The
Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Program at Children’s was created to meet the medical and
surgical needs of this unique and complex population and is comprised of a dedicated team of medical
experts who have devoted their careers to the care of these patients.
Approximately 20% of our visits are comprised of ACHD patients – more than 1,000 visits annually.
Patients with all forms of congenital heart disease, from simple to complex, receive treatment from our
specialized team. Patients are seen primarily at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center for their outpatient
care and at The Nebraska Medical Center for inpatient care. This allows patient care to be individualized
utilizing the most appropriate resources from each institution.

FEEDING AND GROWTH DISORDERS
www.ChildrensOmaha.org
The Feeding and Growth Disorders Clinic is one of a few of its kind in the Midwest. It is designed
specifically for infants, toddlers and adolescents who have a variety of feeding and swallowing difficulties,
as well as failure to gain weight appropriately.
Because the needs of children with feeding difficulties can be so complex, Children’s provides a
multi-disciplinary approach that includes highly trained pediatric professionals such as speech
language pathologists, a social worker, dietician, behavioral psychologist, G I registered nurse,
G I physician and occupational therapists.
The team works together to help children become medically stable and meet their nutritional needs to
maximize their oral feeding potential and enjoy the social and emotional aspects of meal time.
