Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fabulous Friday the children had last week. Thank you so much to the PTA for their amazing organisation of
the Mother's Day stall. The children loved choosing their gifts. We hope all Mums, and Grandmothers,
Grandmothers had a great day
yesterday.
Comic Relief
It was great to see so many red noses and funny faces in school. The children
children had a great time, and loved doing their
fund raising activities; see the photo below where Year 1 got to throw wet sponges at their teachers for money! Huge
thanks go to all parents, staff and children for their enthusiasm for and commitment to this worthwhile
w
cause. We are
thrilled that we raised £440 on the day and a further £120 from the sale of RED NOSES.
NOSES This is a fantastic amount of
money and we still have some funds to add to this from the Year 6 pop up takeaway stall on Friday. A HUGE thank
you to everyone for supporting the school with their Comic Relief fundraising.
Art Exhibition
This year’s exhibition is up and ready for you to visit. The title this year is “GreART Britain”.
It is an exhibition of works by the children which are linked in some way to British values. These include respect and
tolerance, regardless of background, values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and
tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs as
a well as combating discrimination. The essence of each of the
pieces is linked to British art; either imitation of the work of a British artist or reproduction of an iconic piece of British
sculpture or architecture.
The children have reallyy enjoyed working
working on their exhibits and are keen to share them with the whole school
community. The comments of Edoardo Walker in Hedgehog class sum up the spirit of enthusiasm and excitement of
the children last week during the art week.
"I love school so much. It's so much fun! I didn't realise JUST children could make something as good as this. Are we
going to donate it to the queen to put on one of her walls? She's got lots of walls because her house is very big."
If it is good enough for the Queen........!!

Parents and carers are welcome before school each day this week from 8.30am and after school Monday and
Wednesday until 5pm. The exhibition will also be open until 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday during parent consultation
evenings. So, no excuses!
The exhibition comes down after school on Friday. Don’t miss it!

World Book Day

choosing that character. It was a really difficult job choosing the winners for the best outfit and also for the extreme

Last Wednesday our year 6 children went to Sacred Heart to play their next matches in the Battersea Football League.
The girls’ team played Honeywell and although they didn’t win it was a very close match nonetheless. Maia, having
taken a ball in the face in the first few seconds came back to make several good saves in goal. The team of 5 showed
great determination and courage. The boys’ team got to play a friendly against Sacred Heart; sadly their league game
team did not show! Joe and Dan showed good link up play throughout the match and it paid off with a goal. Oliver
worked hard making good saves keeping the team in with a chance to win. Our defence and midfield players made
great tackles and passes however the opposition was just too good and eventually beat the boys, but not by much!
Parent Consultations
As you aware, from our meetings earlier in the year, a new National Curriculum has been introduced since September.
The Government no longer want schools to use National Curriculum levels to assess progress, with the exception of
year 2 and year 6 for this year.
We are really looking forward to seeing you all at the parent consultations on Tuesday and Thursday this week. The
teachers will be sharing your child's progress, by looking at the work in their books and sharing the next steps for your
children to ensure they meet or exceed age related expectations of the new curriculum by the end of the year. They
will not be reporting progress or attainment in terms of levels.
We will be holding parent workshops for each year group in the summer term when we will be able to give you more
information on the new assessments we will be using instead of levels.
Please get these dates in your diary now. The meetings will start at 5pm and should last about an hour.

Wandsworth Borough Council Visit
Connie Cooling, our Wandsworth link inspector, came to visit last week. She observed Maths lessons all morning
across the school and also examined our progress data. She acknowledged that there have been significant
improvements in progress and the way Maths is taught at Allfarthing as well as noting that the behaviour for learning
in classrooms and behaviour generally across the school was excellent.
Staff news
Sadly, Miss Flower will be leaving us at the end of this term as she wishes to have a career break for a few months.
"After two and a half years, I have made the difficult decision to leave Allfarthing at the end of the Spring term. I have
decided to have a career break for several months and I am very pleased that Mrs Hunter is taking over Polar Bear
class after the Easter break. I would like to say thank you to all staff, parents and children who I have taught over the
years and I will take many happy memories from my time at the school. I wish everyone all the best for the future."
There is lots to look forward to during the last week of term with the Spring Bonnet parade and egg sculptures.
Do remember that school will be closed on Monday 23rd March for an INSET day when staff will be trained on a new
RWI spelling programme we will be adopting after the Easter break.
