GENERAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Congratulations to all students who qualified at Districts for
the State Finals Speech and Debate Tournament. Also, a hearty
welcome to all those students competing in the events not needed to
qualify at the District level. Both the Pennsylvania High School Speech
League and Susquehanna University truly welcome you to
Selinsgrove.
JUDGING
Judging in individual events and debate will primarily be performed
by high school coaches and judges. Some university-secured judges
will be worked into the schedule as needed. Nevertheless, all judges
have been carefully scheduled. I t is extremely difficult to make last
minute changes in judging assignments. Therefore, all judges are
expected to meet the schedule as assigned. The failure of any high
school coach/judge to report for an assignment will result in a fine.
Judging assignments will be available at the coaches/judges meeting.
All high school coaches/judges must be available for judging
the entire tournament. Evaluation forms, etc., for all Speech and
LD events will be given out 20 minutes before each round at the
tables set up in Weber Chapel Lobby. Evaluation forms,
ballots, etc., for these events should be returned to this area
immediately following each round.
Cross-X Debate will have a table set up outside Apfelbaum Hall 306.
Please pick up Cross-X Debate evaluation forms and return ballots to
this area. Please be prompt in picking up and returning your judging
forms. Above all, please follow the PHSSL Constitution.
STUDENT LOUNGE
Mellon Lounge in the Degenstein Campus Center (upper level) will
serve as the student lounge. Students are also welcome to use
Benny’s Bistro (lower level of the campus center) as a lounge area.
SMOKING
Smoking is prohibited in all buildings on the Susquehanna University
campus. University policy prohibits anyone from smoking within 10
feet of building doors and windows.

EATING
There will be no organized eating during the tournament, and each
person should eat when time is available. Evert Dining Room will be
open on Friday from 11am - 3pm and 4pm - 7pm; on Saturday from

Friday from 9am - 10pm and on Saturday from 10am - 10pm.
FRIDAY NIGHT BUFFET & SATURDAY LUNCH
The Buffet will be on Friday night between 9:00pm and 11:45pm in
the Evert Dining Room, upper level of the Campus Center, and again
on Saturday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm for lunch. Upon presentation
of your ticket, you will be allowed one entry into the dining room. Any
coaches/judges who do NOT have a ticket and would like to eat at

Apfelbaum Hall, Room 318, for $7.50. Cash will NOT be accepted
in the dining hall during meal times.
PARKING
Parking is permitted in all the parking areas on campus except those
marked for specific areas; e.g., handicapped, faculty/staff. (The
"faculty" and "staff" designated areas can be ignored on Friday after
4:15 pm and all day Saturday). You do NOT need parking permits of
any kind.
Parking is also permitted anywhere on Selinsgrove streets not
designated as a "No Parking" area. This includes side streets and
main streets. Campus security officers will assist with parking.
If you came by bus, please have the bus go to the motel and return
to pick you up at the end of the events on Friday and do the same on
Saturday. This will help alleviate parking congestion. We hope that
you will be understanding and patient as we try to find parking for
everyone at the University.
Please do not take vehicles to the Selinsgrove High School or
Elementary School.
LOST & FOUND
A Lost & Found center will be located in the Tabulation Room,
Apfelbaum Hall 318 (Extension 2886 after 3pm on Friday). I f you
