ARTIST OF THE MONTH: ISTVAN (STEVE) GAL
Steve, a former SAG Board Member, was born in Budapest, Hungary. He immigrated to the
United States and settled in the Chicago area 44 years ago. He was full of hope and ambition.
Steve attended and received a degree in engineering from Midwest Engineering College. That
enabled him to work as a design engineer for many years. Art was always his passion and Steve
hoped that he could become a full-time artist and paint beautiful pictures.
After retirement, his dream came true. He attended the School of Art at the Art Institute of
Chicago and received a certificate and exhibited his work. In his retirement, he is painting his
life away and enjoying every minute of it. Steve cherishes the prizes he’s received at many exhibits.
