Here discount stores stand side by side with
quirky shops, coffee houses and cosmopolitan cafes on the high
street. Twice weekly outdoor street market (Thursdays & Saturdays),
monthly vintage market (first Saturday) in the Royal Arcade and
pedestrianised precinct. From Boscombe Pier visit the new Coastal
Activity Park, pier (look for the old pictures) and beaches. Look for
the site of the old spa water well. Wander through Boscombe Chine
Gardens with the cafe, mini-golf and children’s play area. Pick up
the land train back to Bournemouth along the seafront, or on to Alum
Chine (for Westbourne)
6
Stop
Southbourne...
Enjoy the cafe culture along bustling
Southbourne Grove with its delightful delis and buzzing bistros and
pubs. Here you can mix with the locals and enjoy a wide variety of
independent shops. Wander between the high street, the cliff top, and
the beaches through the tree-lined Fisherman’s Walk. Look out for the
crazy golf, the pitch and putt and the children’s play park. Take the
cliff top path with some great views out across the bay, or take the cliff
lift down onto the seafront and beaches. The beaches in this mainly
residential area are popular with local families.
