The functions of CI950 are as follows: –– S ignal transferring via PROFIBUS –– C ollecting the diagnostic information of both communication interface modules and I/O modules –– H ART pass-through, even cyclic HART communication for second and third variable –– I/O module configuration –– Both redundant and non-redundant mode can be used Redundant solutions The S950e I/O family offers redundancy options for I/O channels, power supply and Profibus connection. This enables increased availability for maximum productivity. There is no additional engineering effort required in Freelance Engineering. You just need to plug the redundant devices using the engineering tool. Modular I/O system S950e I/O is connected to the Freelance controllers via Profibus. S950e I/O has a modular structure: it consists of the communnication interfaces, I/O modules, a rack and terminal boards. An S950e I/O station is based on a rack or also called terminal unit. The rack based design allows for flexible selection of I/O types and number within the system limitation. Two rack types (terminal units) are available, one for 8 I/O modules and one for 20 I/O modules. The terminal boards are connected with corresponding I/O modules by D-Sub 37 (DB37) cables. Each terminal board has two DB37 connectors for optional redundancy. These cabinets need expensive space in the control rooms. That’s why the S950e I/O system is made for using minimal cabinet space. S950e I/O allows for a high density of up to 600 I/O signals per standard 19” two-door cabinet. The most economical way is to wire field cables from the ground into the cabinet center between the front side where we find the electronic part with controllers, power supply and I/O modules and on the back side where the the terminal boards are mounted on DIN rails. Engineering made easy The entire configuration of S950e I/O is performed with the Freelance Engineering tool. Freelance Engineering is designed to optimize your engineering workflow. S950e can easily be configured using the specifically designed S950e configuration plug-in. Also diagnostic information can be accessed via the the same plug-in. Also User Function Blocks are available as part of Freelance Engineering. These special function blocks make the signal connection, conversion and scaling as easy as possible. S950e mounted in cabinet with AC 900F controllers Benefits at a glance – – High availability through redundancy – – Small footprint – a perfect supplement to the “smallest DCS on the planet”: 600 I/Os per cabinet are possible – – Reliable through hot-swap: modules can be replaced without powering down the station. – – HART pass-through capability for cyclic access to second and third HART variables. – – All-purpose I/O system for process applications with the Freelance DCS: the patended, cost-efficient can be used in any common process application. – – Robust: To withstand harsh environments, all S950e modules and components are compliant to G3 severity level of ISA-S71.04, “Environmental Conditions for Process Measurement and Control Systems”. – – Optimized for cabinet mounting. – – Cost-efficient due to affordable price and small footprint. To summarize, the new S950e I/O system is able to cover almost any demand in process industry applications. It will help to to save money due to reduced cabinet space and keep your production up and running thanks to redundancy options.
