News Release MARCH 25, 2015 RELEASED BY : S GT MARTY MILLER CASE # MP15-19503 News Release: Traffic Crash resulting in death On 03/24/2015 at 5:35 p.m. officers responded to the intersection of Nasa Blvd. and Babcock St. in reference to a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. According to witnesses, 23 year old Edward Honiker of West Melbourne was traveling westbound on Nasa Blvd. on a 2012 Honda motorcycle and 50 year old Edward Jokob of Melbourne was traveling eastbound on Nasa Blvd in a 2005 BMW. Both vehicles entered the intersection of Nasa Blvd and Babcock St. simultaneously on a solid green light. Jakob then made a left turn in front of Honiker, causing both vehicles to collide. Honiker was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter and Jakob was not injured. Jakob was taken into custody and transported to the Brevard County Jail for Violation of Right of Way Resulting in Death and for Operation of a Motor Vehicle with an Expired Driver’s License, (expired Canadian driver’s license since 2009). There was no indication either driver was impaired at the time of the accident. The Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating this incident and more information may be available at a later time.
