MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Bill Howard • Club President
Spring is finally here and with it many great opportunities to come out and enjoy Turtle Point.
Easter weekend (April 5th) is always a nice time for families to spend time together. Come out
and have a delicious lunch prepared by Chef Mark and his staff, and let the kids have a ball at
our annual Easter egg hunt. Also, don’t forget about the Turtle Point Family Camp out. A good
time is sure to be had by all.
The annual Member-Member golf tournament will he held on April 25-26. This highly
competitive weekend is always fun. Another popular event is the tennis Member-Guest
tournament, scheduled for May 8-9. Be sure to come and watch some great matches.
Memorial Day is also around the corner. This fun weekend always reminds me of how fortunate we are to have such a
beautiful Club in such an amazing setting. The spectacular views of the Tennessee River and Club amenities make Turtle
Point a truly special and unique place to be.
I hope to see everyone soon.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
Do you enjoy wonderful wine, good food and charismatic company? Then you might be interested to know that your
Club has created a group of like-minded individuals that meet once a month and “Share the Vine”. The monthly meetings
are themed in advance to give you an idea of what the menu will be and what type of wine to bring. The cost is usually
$35.00+ and a bottle of wine to share with the group (per person). The meetings are limited to the first 24 that sign up
via email directly to me. If spots are still available 3 days before the meeting, non-member guests will be allowed access.
Currently there are roughly 45 email addresses in our data base, and we have room for a few more. If you are interested
in becoming part of “Share the Vine” now is your chance. On April 23rd at 6pm, “Share the Vine,” will have an open
meeting to encourage all that are interested to attend and join the group. The theme of the April meeting is “California,”
and Chef Mark is already coming up with ideas for the menu. If you are interested in joining the group, please email me
directly at [email protected] (the front desk does not handle these reservations).

Max Russell Band. The newly decorated Quarterdeck is a great venue and open to all members. Come join
us for a relaxing fun evening and enjoy the added bonus of a great setting with an awesome sunset.
Also, our 2nd annual Turtle Point Camp out will be April 18th. Last year’s campers had a great time, and
I look for an even bigger crowd this year! Set up begins at 2pm with activities planned throughout the
evening. A cookout is planned for 6pm, and breakfast will be at 7am the following morning.
Please be sure to make your reservations early for our ever-popular Mother’s Day Brunch. Let us help you make Mom’s Day extra special!
Reservations fill up early so be sure to call well in advance. We appreciate your help. Our goal is to serve you better.
Our hard working agronomy staff has completed the Aerification process and are looking forward to a great spring and summer golf
season. Make your plans to play in our Spring Member/Member Golf tournament on April 25-26. Our tennis Member Guest will be the
weekend of May 8-9. It is a fun time to be out at TPYCC-as a participant or a spectator.
We are also gearing up for warmer weather and the summer season. The Turtle Point Pool will open May 22. There will be 2 types of water
aerobics groups offered this summer. Also, Peggy Claiborne will be available for swimming lessons. Call the front office for more details.
I would ask you please to continue to refer potential members to us. We need to work together to promote TPYCC to continue to grow
and thrive. Simply pass any potential member information to me, Tricia Mayes, or Chip Rasch and we will gladly follow up and introduce
your family, friend, or associate to the amenities and opportunities awaiting them at TPYCC. We are ready and willing to help you in
anyway we can to promote TPYCC. Thank you for your continued support.
I hope to see you at your Club soon & often!

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
The golf maintenance staff has endured several winter storms that included 4 inches of snow,
approximately 1.5” of ice and sleet and a freezing rain storm that coated the property with
about a .25” of ice that caused some moderate damage to many of the pines on the course.
Needless to say, we are happy to see some warmer, sunny and drier days. There are few things
better than a mild Spring day at the Club. We are almost there!
Glen Junkin, GCS
Golf Course
Superintendent
Despite the harsh weather conditions, the golf maintenance staff has been busy on all of the
winter projects we customarily do. Refinishing tee markers, course benches and the club’s patio
furniture, as well as, repairing and refinishing the course’s ballwashers are typical tasks that we
accomplish during the slow winter season. In addition to these course accessories, the staff
renovated the Mechanic’s Shop and Staff break room. Both areas look great and will allow us
to be better organized, efficient and effective. Also over the winter, we have removed several
diseased, insect- infested or storm damaged trees, and replaced the turf around them resulting
in approximately 18,000 sq-ft of new turf added!
As March and our Spring season begins, we look forward to getting the course ready for the
busy golfing season. The week of March 23, the staff will aerify greens. A process that’s not
fun for us (or for our golfing members), but a very necessary task to ensure quality playing
conditions all season long. We will also begin getting our color display containers ready and the
fern containers out of the greenhouse. They look fantastic! A new project we are taking on this
Spring is the growing of some select herbs for the kitchen in the clubhouse. Perhaps, this
Summer when you enjoy some fine dining at the club, the rosemary, parsley or chives will have
all come from right here on the club property!
