Danny George Davis, 65
of Dover, departed this earth,
Friday, March 20, 2015 at Mercy
Hospital in Fort Smith. He was born Jan. 17, 1950,
in Deer, son of Inez Fiveash and
George Newton Davis.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, and one sister,
Melba Copeland.
He is survived by his wife of
45 years, Nancy Kay Davis; three
sons, George Franklin Davis,
Doug Poynor, J.R. and wife,
Tosha Mark Sparks; three daughters, Peggy Davis, Kathrine
Panning; Thereasa Taylor and
husband, Charles; two brothers,

and for enforcing more than 300
Federal statutes. As an FBI Special Agent, you may work on matters including terrorism, foreign

COUNCIL NOTICE OF FUNDS AVAILABLE
The Arkansas Governor’s Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC)
announces the availability of funds for activities and projects in the areas of
Inclusive Education, Customized Employment, and Education-Family Support.
Funding is available to support customized employment efforts that would promote employment
opportunities and trainings and transition plans for individuals with ID/DD including vocational environment job coaches and documentation of transition planning from the beginning of the process to the
end for future replication; to develop relationships with members of the business community. Funding
up to $30,000.00 is available to fund project (s) over a one year period of time contingent on the
availability of funds.
Funding is available to promote the education and awareness of guardians, parents, other caregivers and families to ensure that they have access to educational choices for individuals with ID/
DD. Choices include the awareness of options in educational settings; agency programs and other
education related opportunities and programs. Funding up to $25,000.00 is available to fund project (s)
over a one year period of time, contingent on the availability of funds.
Funding is available to promote trainings for inclusive education in schools statewide, especially in rural areas; to encourage Positive Behavior Support training in schools; support data collection
of the adult service system to identify gaps in the system, identify needs of emerging adults; and/or to
support the development of an action plan to promote individualized transition from high school to adulthood; including the advocacy of systems change when needed. Funding up to $25,000.00 is available
to fund project (s) over a one year period of time, contingent on the availability of funds.
Applicants must complete and submit a detailed application. Funding is awarded annually on a matching basis for up to three (3) years, unless otherwise stipulated, and based on successful completion
of yearly goals and objectives that are documented to be in compliance with DDC policies governing
sub-grantee activities.
Proposals must be submitted in accordance with the Request for Proposal and include a completed
application packet.
Completed applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015.
The Council reserves the right to reject any or all proposals based on the availability of federal funds,
failure to submit a complete application, quality of the application and/or non-compliance with DDC
policies. Fax and email transmissions ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE and applications received AFTER the
closing time and date will not be accepted.

Saturdays – 1:45 p.m. – Critter Crunch – Lake Dardanelle’s
diverse habitats provide homes
for many creatures large and
small. Join a park interpreter
in the kid’s corner of the visitor center as she tells you about
some of the smaller creatures.
She will also be feeding these
creatures; so come discover the
small native wonders we have
around us.
Thursday, March 26
10:30 a.m. – Wildlife Hike
– You can explore nature at this
park because Lake Dardanelle’s
diverse habitats sustain many
living creatures. Meadowbrook
Trail is home to many of these
creatures. Join a park interpreter at the amphitheater and
discover what animals call this
area home. Then head down the
trail to see how many creatures
you can see or what traces of
them we can find.
2 p.m. – Eagles Measure Up
– Bald Eagles are incredible not
only for their beauty and speed
but for their size as well. Join a
park interpreter on the Dardanelle side of the park near the
playground and discover how
you measure up to an eagle.
4 p.m. – Furry Factoids–
Have you ever had a random
fact running around your
mind? Join a park interpreter
in the grassy area across from
the visitor center to learn some
of the fun, often unknown, facts
about our furry friends running
around Lake Dardanelle State
Park.
6 p.m. – Marsh Mystery
– As the Arkansas River journeys through Lake Dardanelle,
it continually shapes the land
and creates opportunities for
people like you. We have to be
careful when enjoying these
opportunities that we don’t
affect others. Join a park interpreter in the grassy area across
from the visitor center and help
her solve a marsh mystery. Discover how you can help protect
our natural areas.
Friday, March 27
9 a.m. – Morning Bird Walk
– Join a park interpreter at the
visitor center to take a walk
through the area in search
of our visiting birds. Even if
you’ve never birded before, you
can enjoy these creatures in a
whole new way!
11:30 p.m. – Fashion a Fish
– Learn about the wide variety
of shapes and sizes of fish that
live in Lake Dardanelle, due to
its health and diversity. After
you discover the reasons for
their shapes you can create a
fish of your own. We will meet
in the Lakeview Room.
1 p.m. – Corn Husk Figures
– Exploration, opportunity,
and progress forged the culture
that you find here today. Join
a park interpreter in the visitor
center Lakeview Room to learn
about an early toy that was
made by the early children and
make one of your own.
3:30 p.m. – Game Scene
Investigation: G.S.I. – When
you walk around in nature and
you see a track, do you take the
track at face value as just a foot
print, or do you look around to
see what the big picture holds?
Join a park interpreter on Dardanelle side of the park near the
playground and see what you
can determine about the game
scene in the area.
4:30 p.m. – Call of the Wild
– Some animal calls are very
familiar while others are rather
vague and when they’re all
mixed together, it can be difficult to pick them out. Meet a
park interpreter at the amphitheater to learn the difference
between many of the animal
calls you hear in Arkansas.

Friends– Arkansas is home to
many forest critters that are
sometimes misunderstood and
feared. Join a park interpreter
at the amphitheater as we discover some of the myths that
are told about our wildlife and
explore how important these
critters are to our environment. 12 p.m. – Kayak Tour – As
the Arkansas River journeys
through Lake Dardanelle, it
continually shapes the land and
creates numerous opportunities
for people to enjoy from fishing to kayaking. The weather
is warming up, and we’re going
to see what’s emerging on the
banks of Lake Dardanelle. We’ll be paddling our kayaks
through some seldom closely
seen shoreline of this beautiful
34,000 acre lake. Sign up at the
visitor center (479-967-5516) at
least one day in advance. The
fee is $12 for adults, $6 for children 6-12 years old, 5 years and
under ride free when with an
adult. Please specify when you
sign up if you want a tandem (2
person) or solo kayak. We will
meet at the front desk of the
visitor center. 2:30 p.m. – Such Table Manners – Nature’s furred and
feathered children have pretty
bad manners when it comes to
eating. Eating with their mouth
open, grabbing, and reaching
for food can be seen in nature
when wildlife enjoys their
dinner. Join a park interpreter
at the amphitheater to discover
the bad table manners of Lake
Dardanelle State Park’s critters. 3:30 p.m. – Native American Games – Native Americans
who inhabited this area before
removal, made decisions here
that changed their lives. Have
you ever thought about the
daily lives of Native Americans
and wondered how they spent
their free time, back in history,
way before this area was a state
park? Join us in celebrating
Archeology Month as we take a
look at area history. Meet a park
interpreter in the grassy area
across from the visitor center to
learn some of the games Native
Americans developed, played,
and perfected. All ages welcome! 4 p.m. – Hidden Creatures
– We humans wear camouflage
on a daily basis to blend in while
hunting, and sometimes just for
style. But, animals have to use
camouflage to survive in the
wild. Meet a park interpreter
at the amphitheater to see some
pictures of these animals doing
what they do best, blending in
with nature, and see if you can
spot all the hidden creatures in
the pictures!
7 p.m. – Night Flight –Join
a park interpreter at the amphitheater to learn about our silent
hunters that come out when the
sun goes down. We will talk
about some of their unique features and then walk the Meadowbrook Trail as we try to catch
a glimpse of these stealthy raptors.

get all the tools you need for
adventure and creativity neatly
packaged in a backpack along
with an adventure guide full
of ideas on what to do with all
the items. Our P.A.C.K.’s can be
checked out at the visitor center

for 24 hours and get to keep
many of the items for future
adventures.
