2015 FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT Annual review of football development work in the city INTRODUCTION from the Football Development Team 2014 saw Glasgow host the biggest sporting event ever staged in Scotland. The Commonwealth Games was a extraordinary success and showcased everything that was good about sport in the city. The Games inspired children and young people to get involved in sport and has created a lasting legacy in Glasgow, and beyond. Although a non-games sport, football continued to thrive in 2014. Football development saw a 15% increase in coach education attendances. Our highest to date. We also supported more clubs through the quality mark accreditation scheme and we delivered more football within curriculum and afterschool time than ever before. This coming year, sees the introduction of a four strand approach to football development, mirroring the Scottish FA’s objectives for the next four years. 1. Participation : A Game for All 2. Education : Skilled Volunteer Workforce 3. Stronger Clubs : Vibrant, Sustainable Clubs 4. Attractive Game : Culture, Pathways and Facilities Within our role as football development officers,we will look to build on 2014’s successes in progressing these targets. 1 SCHOOLS FOOTBALL Participation : A Game for All Glasgow Football Development work in partnership with many agencies to offer a comprehensive football programme to all of the Primary Schools across the city.
