Physic Garden is a celebration of the
beauty and importance of plants. This
walled Garden was founded in 1673 by the
Worshipful Society of Apothecaries for its
apprentices to study the medicinal qualities
of plants. It became one of the most
important centres of botany and plant

The trip starts with a guided tour of the
Horticultural College by Tamsin Jones,
Head of the College. Visit the Show
Gardens, Nursery and Orchards.
Bring your own picnic lunch and eat it in the
lovely gardens or indoors if inclement.
After lunch the tour heads to Pershore
Abbey and either study the abbey and
grounds under your own steam or go on a
guided tour at an additional cost of £6.00.

Kelham Island Industrial Museum tells the
story of the industrial past of Sheffield. See
the Little Mesters who were the early
makers of cutlery, tools and silverware.
Watch craftsmen performing ancient skills
as they make cutlery and surgical
instruments. See the mighty River Don
Steam Engine which used to run the rolling
mills to turn out steel plate. The engine is
usually run twice per day. See the Bessemer
Converter, one of the giant steel producing
pieces of machinery from old steelmaking
times and view a knife with 365 retractable

Only four original 1215 copies of Magna Carta
remain and a visit to view perhaps the best
preserved of these in Salisbury Cathedral's
Chapter House is for many visitors the
highlight of their visit: now presented in a
wonderful new interactive exhibition. The
Cathedral itself is a magnificent structure,
with the tallest spire in Britain, and a
considerable amount of rare Medieval stained
glass still surviving.
Arrive 10:30 a.m. Guided tour starts at
11:00 a.m. finishes approx. 12:00 noon.
