All is ready and in place for our convention April 10, 11, and
12. We are looking forward to comradery, forums and yes a
necessary business meeting. The convention committee is
again planning a live auction with the gifts you generously
provide. District and state projects will be highlighted with
chronicles of their accomplishments and services.
By your attendance you reaffirm your continued support to
your District and our great organization “Lions International”
an organization celebrating their 100th anniversary in just 2
short years.
PID Joe Al Picone a long and illustrious Lion from the Brenham Evening Lions Club will be our International guest. Our
Luncheon speaker will report on the “re-branding” of the
Midwest/Michigan Eye Bank and our forums Saturday afternoon will further update us on the current state of these
programs and projects.
On the following pages you will be able to review a few of
the announcements of activities, events, and fund raisers of
clubs, the district, state and International. Much can be
learned and/or enjoyed at these functions.
If you wish to see your announcements in the
next 2 Newsletters, please submit a facsimile of
your flier.

More about the Convention!
We always look forward to judging Club’s Scrapbooks. Hopefully you have
been collecting, documenting, sorting and arranging your “show pieces”.
Once again, the winner will receive a small token of our appreciation as you
share your accomplishments.
Delegates’ qualifications:
I am just the messenger
International’s voting rules and instructions require a club to be in good standing for
delegates to be certified for voting. The following criteria must be met:
1) Your delegate count is based on members with at least one year of service
2) All outstanding Dues and certain other outstanding invoices be paid.
As of the Cut-off Date, March 1, 2015, 10 clubs who may register and desire certification
of must remit those charges and present proof thereof..
I continue unfortunately to be reminded how volatile our district’s and clubs’ membership
rosters are. Since my last newsletter, the drops outnumber the gains in membership once
again. I still believe that there must be a few men and women out there looking to serve
their community, the district and the state. We, Lions, are once again given the opportunity
during Governor Snyder’s declaration of White Cane Week to showcase our dedication as
we offer the white cane emblem to all passers by. Remember our mission to be the
“Knights of the Blind.

Nominations needed
Could each District please send me the name of who you would like to represent
LCIF in your District for a 3 year term (July, 2015 - June, 2018) ASAP ??? I would
need their name, address, email, phone numbers and any titles they may have.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A PDG TO HOLD THE POSITION OF DISTRICT COORDINATOR.
If you have any recommendations for the State Coordinator to replace me or willing to work with me, PLEASE send me those names as well. I will need to receive
the names from the District Governor, Past International Directors, Past & Present
Council Chairs or Past District Governors. These names are to be given to me
along with resumes & references NOT LCIF Corporate offices. LCIF Corporate
asked that this process goes through the Leadership recommendations to the
MD11/SD10 LCIF Coordinator (me).
The recommendation of the 2015-2018 LCIF Multiple District Coordinator needs to
come from the MD leadership to PIP Kusiak and PIP Madden. Please work within
the structure, as LCIF Corporate has no input into the selection which should come
from the State Coordinator.

The Campaign for
The Canine Development Center
75 Years of Service
75 years ago 3 Lions and a few clubs came together to establish an Organization to train guide
dogs for people who are blind. They were committed to empowering people with
Lifelong skills for independent travel through quality Leader Dogs.
As society evolved, so did our clients and the environments in which they travel.
Today’s client requires a dog that can thrive in calmer settings, like an office building.
Also being able to guide in various types of other environments such as, busy stores,
Hectic streets, maze like college campuses, to name a few.
Our ability to develop this type of dog is constrained by our dated facilities, which were built
when training methods and veterinary standards were vastly different
Today are veterinary clinic is to small to accommodate the latest medical and breeding tools; our
training facilities lack the space necessary to develop calm and well adjusted dogs and our puppy
area (housed in a converted garage) is not suited to train young puppies during this critical time in
their development .
To make our vision for the future a reality, we must invest in a comprehensive kennel redesign.
To create a canine development center designed to support our work.
Lions Recognition
Donor recognition for this campaign will be carried out through three unique programs.
Each with different levels.
1. Partners in empowerment –focuses on individuals, corporations, foundations
and Lions Clubs making significant gifts. Recognition at each level includes name
2.
3.
placement on the Leader Dog partners in empowerment Donor Wall and other naming
opportunities.
75th anniversary Society –focuses on club recognition. Offers per-member recognition
for Lions Clubs that participate in the campaign. Includes a banner patch and prominent
recognition on the 75th anniversary Society Donor Wall.
1939 Community- honors individual Lions donating to the campaign. Honors the
attributes of our three founders and individual Lions donating to the campaign, recognition at each
level includes a 1939 community pin and recognition in the canine development center.
The Power of Pledging
Pledging allows your club to commit to making a series of donations over a period of
several years with the combined total being recognized all at once. For example, a Pledge
to donate $5000 annually for five years will be recognized as a gift of $25000.
I have been in contact with many clubs to set a date to come and put on a presentation for
our canine development campaign, to go over the different levels, and to start the pledge
process. Please contact Lions District chairperson PDG Dave Hacker to set a date for
your club. I look forward to seeing all of you.
Yours in Lionism
Leader Dog Chairperson Dave Hacker

The Lions of Michigan have the honor this year of hosting this GREAT
event, and there are many ways you can be a part of it!
· You can register and attend. It will never be closer or easier for you to
do so than this year. The Forum is not only a learning opportunity,
but also a gathering of Lions from all over the country and a chance
to meet and make new friends.
· You can volunteer to help make this a huge success! Lions are
needed; most jobs involve just a few hours here and there over the
course of the Forum, either onsite or greeting and helping at the
airport or local hotels. A volunteer form is available on our website.
To register, or for more information, please visit our website. You can do so
by following the link or by using your smart phone and taking a picture of
the QR code below. We hope to see you there!
