Exciting changes are occurring at the Club. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the construction process. The changes we are making will create a better retreat for you and your family.
Cart Barn
We recently poured the concrete floor in the cart barn and are retrofitting the exterior of the building.
Fitness Center
The fitness center expansion began April 26. As part of the expansion process, we will replace the floors and
lighting and mount three new televisions. All of the cardio equipment will be replaced with new Precor
products. In an effort in decrease your wait time and enhance your workout, we will increase the number of
treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. We will also add a smith machine, curl bench and bar, and a dip and assisted
chin station.
Pro Shop
The Pro Shop and the Membership and General Manager’s Offices have been relocated to the trailer in the
parking lot. These facilities will remain in the trailer until the new Clubhouse is open.
Multipurpose Room
We are enclosing the covered terrace adjacent to the pool to create an approximately 1,000 sq. ft. heated and
air-conditioned multipurpose space This space will be used for a variety of fitness classes, programming events,
and private events. Construction will begin in the next few weeks.

Golf Maintenance - James Reese, GCSAA Class A Golf Course Superintendent
Aerification was completed on Wednesday, April 8th. All the rain has washed the sand in and the Greens are
healing well.; the greens should be back to normal within a few weeks.
With at least six inches of rain on the course, the Crew has worked hard to get things back in playable condition. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to recover from the recent storms.
As things started to dry out towards the end of the month, we were able to mow out the Tees, Fairways, and
Aprons. We have also started mowing our Roughs and will continue to do so throughout the upcoming weeks.
We have noticed some winter kill on some areas in the Bermuda, but expect to grow out of them.
We continue to make progress on the bunkers. The storms caused severe washouts, which required us to
redistribute sand for appropriate depths. Once that is complete, we have one more greenside bunker to
renovate, then we will begin the fairway bunkers at #5.
We are wrapping up an irrigation leak we had at the Chipping Green; please excuse the mess.
We have stalled out on native clearing, since the Bermuda grass has started to green up, aerification of the
greens and cleaning up from the Flood of 2015. We plan to get back to clearing native areas on dry days.
The New Putting Course is set up for play…just check in at the Pro Shop for a score card.

12 Oaks Get Out and Play
At 12 Oaks, we are focused on the overall wellness of our members and their families. In order
to encourage kids to turn off the TV, put down the tablets, and get off the couch we are
introducing the “Get Out and Play” Program. Participation in the program is open to all 12
Oaks members ages 5 to 18. Participants can collect tokens beginning May 25 (Memorial Day)
through September 7(Labor Day) and will be able to trade tokens for prizes. Top participants
in each age group will receive recognition in the club newsletter, but this is not a competition.
This program is simply designed to do what the title suggests – get people out into the
community to play.
You will receive one token each time you participate in one of the following:
9 Hole Round of Golf
Golf Clinic
Golf Lesson
Round on the Putting Green
Tennis Lesson
Swim Team Practice
Swim Meet
We will also have opportunities 1-2 times a week to earn points, which will be posted on the
Club Calendar. These opportunities will include but are not limited to the following:
Basketball Shoot Out
Tennis Serve Challenge
Walk a Mile
Corn Hole
Bonus Point Opportunities
Physical activity does not always have to involve structured events. It can be as simple as
running around the playground or playing in the pool. On occasion, the Lifestyle Director will
visit the pool or playground and award each person there a point.

We want to thank our Garden Director, Wendy Buchanan, for her hard work and dedication to the
Community Garden and the Garden Club. Wendy has decided to pursue an opportunity in Molecular
Research. Again, we thank Wendy for all she has accomplished and we wish her the best of luck in her new

We are currently searching for the perfect replacement to fill Wendy’s shoes and hope to have someone in
place by the end of the month. In Wendy’s absence garden classes will not be held, we appreciate your
understanding.
Please continue to enjoy your garden plots until activities resume.
