Industrial Pharmacy Residency Program
• Description – One year residency program administered by
the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, in cooperation with
Participating Pharmaceutical Companies (all companies in
the GTA area; wide variety of programs)
• Purpose – To educate the resident about different aspects of
industrial pharmacy and to provide an opportunity to gain
industrial experience in selected areas
• Eligibility – Applicant must be a pharmacist or a student in
the final year of an undergraduate program at a Faculty of
Pharmacy with some previous pharmacy experience

Industrial Pharmacy Residency Program
• Types – Two types of residency
– General Residency (not currently available)
– Specialty Residency (all currently participating companies)
• Specialty Residency – Focused activities in one or two
particular departments; unique opportunity to develop
specialty skills in chosen area of interest
• Activities
– Full daily active participation in the selected area of specialty
residency with opportunities to attend seminars and conferences
– Major Project chosen by the resident in discussion with the
supervisor; general supervision of major project by the Core
Committee (Company Supervisor and Faculty Liaison); at least two
meetings of the Core Committee during the residency
– Role of the Faculty Liaison is to serve as an advocate for the
resident, and to assure that the goals of the residency are being met
– A report of the Major Project needs to be completed by the resident
and approved by the Core Committee in addition to completing all
other work of the program within one year of commencing the
program in order to receive the residency certificate

• Timing – Application steps must be completed
during the period Sept. 1 – Oct. 1, 2015
What happens after you send in the application?
• If meeting eligibility criteria, the application package
will be forwarded to the companies selected by the
applicant
• Applicants may send a letter to the Company
Supervisors in early October
• Suitable applicants will be contacted by the Company
Supervisor for an interview during October and
November
• After offering the residency position and accepted by
the selected applicant, the Company Supervisor will
notify the Coordinator
• Normal start date: during the month of Sept. 2016
