Residency Verification Frequently Asked Questions:

Residency Verification Frequently Asked Questions:
1)
Q: Why do we need to complete this paperwork?
A: The Irvine Unified School District will once again require residency
verification for all IUSD students enrolling for the 2015-16 school
year. This process is an annual legal requirement in California, and it
helps our district ensure that all available resources are spent
efficiently and effectively to the benefit of Irvine families. Moreover,
these additional steps will help provide a full and precise accounting of
our student population as we review staffing for the coming year.
By completing the following forms, you will be making a formal
declaration that your child lives within IUSD’s attendance boundaries.
2)
Q: We live with a family member and the bills are not in our name,
what do we need to submit?
A: Parents should complete page 1-3 of the residency paperwork. The
primary resident/owner of the shared home is required to complete the
Co-Residency Form (page 4) and attach a copy of the following
items below:
o His/hers driver’s license or passport with photo ID
o Two proofs of residency from the list on the
Residency Verification Form
o Document must be notarized
3)
Q: We just moved in and we don’t have any bills yet.
A: You can use two “service connection letters” as a temporary proof
of address. Please contact two utility companies to request these. In
most cases, this can be sent to you via email. The letter needs show the
utility company’s information, your name and your address. In the event
a utility service connection is used as proof of residency, then a utility
bill (both parts, in English) must be provided within 45 days to assure
continued enrollment. (Home visitations are made during the first six
months of attendance.)

4)
Q: All of our bills are online, we don’t receive any utility bills in the mail.
A: We are happy to accept online printouts of the first page of your
bills. Please click here for examples of the acceptable bill format.
5)
Q: My child will be attending a different school in Irvine next year.
Why do I need to do this?
A: Your child’s current school will be collecting the residency paperwork
and will send it to their new school after the current school year ends.
Any delay in submitting residency paperwork could jeopardize their
enrollment for the upcoming school year, even if it is for a different
school.
