This amendment includes a caveat that allows the matter to be re-introduced only if Council decides that there is new and compelling information that could reverse their earlier decision. County to Assist in Emergency – Yellowhead County will enter into a new mutual aid agreement with Edson. The agreement specifies how each municipality will provide support to the other should either municipality’s emergency services get over-extend during an emergency. County To Take Ownership of Cemetery – Council has agreed to take over ownership of a cemetery located near Long Lake ensuring it will remain an active cemetery. With the County taking ownership of the property and applying for a Final Certificate of Approval from the province, the site would be recognized as an official active cemetery. The site is currently on private land and is part of a planned subdivision. New Bike Trails in Brule – The development of a trail network for recreational use in Brule has received the go ahead from Council. The proposed trail system is a community driven initiative and was brought forward to the county by residents of Brule. The county will provide approval for trail locations in the hamlet and work closely with the Brule Community Society who will develop the trails. Clean-Up Order Extended – Council has granted a property owner an extension on a clean-up order for their property. The June 30, 2015 deadline has been extended to August 15, 2015. The extension was given so that the property owner can make the proper arrangements to complete the clean-up. The clean-up includes the removal of any building materials, garbage, abandoned equipment, and any structures that are not in a reasonable state of repair. Water Tanker to be Repaired – A Yellowhead County Fire Department Water Tanker has a split tank requiring immediate repair in order to get it back to proper working condition as soon as possible. The approximate $50,000 repair will come from the County’s General Emergent Reserve. New Members Extend Size of Appeal Board – Four members of the public and one Councillor have been appointed as new SDAB (Subdivision Development Appeal Board) members, increasing the available board members to nine. The board’s role is to hear appeals made by anyone who feels they are adversely affected by a proposed development decision or order made by the county. The increased number of board members will reduce the chance of not having enough members available for an SDAB hearing. Road Plan Closure Public Hearing – The proposed closing of part of a road plan and two sections of road allowance located north of Evansburg were presented at a public hearing. The lands, no longer needed for a roadway because of a new paved road being built nearby, will be consolidated into the neighboring property. The proposed bylaw will be brought back to Council at a later date for second and third readings. The next Council Meeting is July 28, 2015. The next Committee of the Whole Council Meeting is July 21, 2015. All meetings start at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
