Community Recovery Summit, Including Community Innovations Update
Set June 15-17 at FIB Operations Center, Billings
A Community Recovery Conference to educate business, civic and
community leaders about the importance of community supported systems of
change for people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction will be held June
15-17 at the First Interstate Bank Operations Center, 1800 6th Avenue North,
Billings.
The second day of the summit will feature an update on results from the
October 2014 Community Innovations Summit, which addressed chronic, public
intoxication and transiency in Billings.
Training also will be offered for those interested in creating and
participating in peer-to-peer recovery programs that emphasize Native American
cultural awareness and perspectives.
The event is being sponsored by the Montana-Wyoming Tribal Leaders
Council, the City of Billings and the Downtown Billings Alliance. Speakers will
include Dr. Corey Reich, co-founder of the Institute for Addiction Study and the
co-creator of LeMont Michel, a disease management-based home for men in
recovery; and Rod Robinson, Deputy Associate Director, Diversion and Reentry
Division, Bureau of Indian Affairs.
The conference is free and open to the public. It is especially intended for
community, civic and business leaders, service providers, faith leaders and elected
officials. Up to 19 Continuing Education Units will be available for those who
register during the sessions.
Registration is requested. More information on registration and the
program is available at the Downtown Billings website, www.4realchange.org,
