Barking Dogs
If your dog is frequently outside in your yard for several
hours, please ensure that your dog does not bark incessantly.
Noise caused by barking dogs can be a source of stress and
impact one's health and relationship with your neighbors.
Noise pollution is proven to cause heart disease, high blood
pressure, and stroke, is a general threat to health and wellness
and impacts the quality of sleep by disrupting sleep cycles.
Chronic stress can lower your immunity to all diseases.

Tree Trimming Project
In January, Valerie Phelps, who is a member of the
ACC, and HOA Director Ann Murphree toured Laurel
Creek to evaluate which areas of Laurel Creek were in
immediate need of attention. It was determined that
the initial focus should be the gazebo park area. This is
a major focal area of Laurel Creek and many of the trees
are so dense that the grass is starting to die from lack of
sunlight, which is leading to ground erosion in certain
areas. Many of the trees also have broken or dead branches
that need to be removed for the health of the tree and the
safety of residents.
Valerie called several tree companies for estimates and
met with all of the companies. The board approved the
selection of a vendor and is waiting for Sterling to verify
their insurance status as of 2/5/15. It is anticipated that
work will have been completed on the first phase of the
tree trimming project by the time the March newsletter is
received. The first phase will involve trimming of 79 trees,
primarily in the gazebo park area. However, a limited
number of trees will also be trimmed in Shadowgate
Park and two by the pond. The trees in Shadowgate
Park were selected because the grass is dying from lack of
light. Three trees will also be removed during this phase,
including a dead tree at Desert Cloud Circle. Because of
its visibility to nearby residents we thought it should be
removed during the first phase.
The HOA received an excellent price for trimming of
the 79 trees, which will allow the budget to stretch much
further than originally anticipated. A second phase of
work is planned for after the trees have leafed out this
spring. The second phase will primarily focus on removal
of dead or nearly dead trees.

PIPELINE
DANGERS
On the afternoon of Monday February 2nd, a plane doing
routine surveillance of the Exxon Mobil pipeline in the Laurel
Creek subdivision spotted a fire with at least two individuals sitting
around the fire in lawn chairs. GPS coordinates were recorded by the
plane and a representative from the pipeline was sent to investigate. The representative was able to find the remnants of the fire but no
individuals were around by the time he arrived. The area involved
looked as if it was possibly being used by teenagers as remnants of
firecrackers were also located in the same area. The location of the fire
was over in section 5 behind the hedge that runs along the back of the
park on Everhart and the open land on the other side. The pipeline
is clearly marked in that area with numerous signs. Exxon Mobil is
not interested in the apprehension of anyone involved. They do want
to get the word out especially to the teenagers in our neighborhood
that lighting any fire near the pipelines located throughout our
subdivision is very dangerous. Please be sure to remind teenagers
and others in your house that the pipeline is not buried very deep in
our area. Lit fires in close proximity to the pipelines are dangerous.
Leaks in the pipeline can potentially occur resulting in extremely
dangerous conditions, especially in the presence of something like a
fire. Please keep a lookout and report any signs of pipeline damage.
To contact Exxon Mobile regarding a pipeline emergency call 1-800537-5200. To contact Magellan regarding emergencies with their
pipeline please call 1-800-720-2417.
