Judy & Tom Lowe 7171 At a recent meeting between the BCHOA Board and Activity Conveners it was determined that an unscheduled "Early Bird Coffee" group is using the Blue Heron Room when another activity is scheduled between 8:15 and 9:00 am. This group is kindly requested not to have their coffee in the Blue Heron Room during that time. The scheduled coffee hour, in the Robin Room, starts at 9:00 a.m. and continues until 10:00 a.m. The Conveners and the Board all agree this will go a long way to avoiding scheduling problems and thank everyone for their anticipated cooperation. Janice Rivest Bob & Doreen Ellah Volunteers Needed Christmas Ramble We are looking for volunteer hosts/hostesses for this year’s Christmas Ramble. We are looking for maybe 5 or 6 houses for residents to visit, where they can call in have a chat, a little Christmas cheer and nibbles and then move on to the next house. Wine will be provided by the Board. For more information please call Vicki Leggatt at 905-382-5532. Can you give 1 hour (or more) of time to help those putting on our annual Craft Sale? We need people to man (or woman) the Main Gate and the Rec Hall Parking Lot. Your job would be to simply direct traffic to the Rec Hall or assist with parking at same. The Sale is on Saturday, November 8th from 9 am to 2 pm. If 10 people would give 1 hour of their time, we would have it covered. A sign-up sheet has been posted on the Rec Hall bulletin board with the time slots indicated. Will you help? Questions? Call Milt Parker @ 9090. Movie Night Attention Crafters We will be showing another true story“Heaven is For Real” on Sunday October 19th at 7:00 in the Blue Heron Room. There is a listing about the movie and characters on the Rec Hall bulletin board. Todd and Sonja Burpo are a reallife couple whose son Colton claims to have visited Heaven during a near death experience. Please come out and join us and bring a friend or two. We have really appreciated the turnout that we have been getting for our movie showings. Thanks to you all. Your Black Creek Movie Committee For those of you that showed up last Wed. thanks, and thank you to Bev Kennis for stepping in for me. The Crafters will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wed of each month. We will do one project a month. On Oct. 22 we will start with learning how to make a bow. Anyone in the community may join in and learn how to make bows for parcels or for decorating a door or for your Christmas tree. You will need scissors, pipe cleaners, ribbon with wired edges, at least 3 meters for a good size bow; if you want larger then bring more ribbon. Costco has great Christmas ribbon in right now and it is around $8.00 for a bolt with 50 yards on it. This is your best value. If you want to learn how to make bows for gift wrapping you will need a satin ribbon, no wire in it you can buy it at a flower shop. You will need at least 3 meters for a bow. For more info please contact Bonnie Backshall @6273 Up the Creek - October 17 Remembrance Day In order to hold a celebration here in the Recreation Hall to remember the Veterans who fought for the sake of FREEDOM we need somebody to lead and organise this year's event. There are people willing to participate but are not willing to take up the lead role !! I have the plans of past events and will hand them over to the person(s) willing to act in a leadership role. Perhaps one of our ladies can take up the challenge !! This year (2014) is actually the Air Force Year as we rotate a service every year, eg. last year (2013) was the Navy lead, 2015 will be the Army lead. Come on you " Brylcream boys" - where are you ????? Any person willing to act as the Nov 11th celebration Leader can contact me for info at 1947. John Walker Page 3
