ASQUITH HOME BREWING SUPPLIES 353 Pacific Highway Asquith NSW 2077 Telephone (02) 9476 2022 Facsimile (02) 9476 2648 RECIPES These recipes are suggested starting points for experimentation and do not exactly duplicate the nominated beer styles Each recipe is enhanced by the use of “finishing hops” packaged in handy 12 gm “tea bags” and prepared by either of the following methods Dry Method Remove the hop bag from the foil sleeve, being careful not to cut the hop bag. Toss the hop bag into the brew after all other ingredients have been blended in hot water. Stir the brew to ensure that the hop bag is saturated, prior to topping up with cold water. Standard Method Remove the hop bag from the foil sleeve, being careful not to cut the hop bag. Place the hop bag into a sterilised mug, fill with boiling water and steep for 10 minutes while preparing the rest of the brew. Prior to adding the yeast, tip the steeped hop bag and liquid into the brew. Quick Boil Method Dissolve the brewing sugar or malt in 2 litres of warm water, bring to a gentle simmer and stir occasionally. Toss the hop bag into the simmering mixture and simmer for 10 minutes. Do not be concerned should the hop bag break. If a second finishing hop is required, remove the mixture from the heat source and toss in the second hop bag and steep for 10 minutes. Use this mixture as a part of the hot water for the brew. * These recipes include premium yeasts that can be used in place of the yeasts accompanying the beer packs. For a better result, we recommend the use of these substitutions.
