a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals flooring resin kit CLEAR EPOXY RESIN BINDER SYSTEM, SOLVENT FREE DESCRIPTION flooring resin epoxy binder system is a solvent-free, clear, two-component, low viscosity epoxy resin system which is cycloaliphatic amine cured (clear light colour). USES flooring resin is currently used as the preferred binder system in abe.®cote 400 hi-build; abe.®flo; abe.®screed QC; abe.®screed SLC P epoxy primer (high mechanical shock areas for SL cementitios screeds). Please refer to specific Technical data sheet for details. All contamination must be removed to give a clean, dry and open textured surface. SURFACE PREPARATION Concrete: Laitance and contamination to be removed by totally enclosed shot blasting, light scarification or diamond grinding. All residues must be removed including vacuum cleaning to provide a dry, dust-free, open textured surface. Porous floors (high air cavities) will need two coats of primer. TYPICAL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES @25OC Other uses include the following: Colour Clear • Primer/pore sealer for suitably prepared cementitious substates for subsequent epoxy or PU coating/screed application. Pot life (5ℓ mixed) approx. 30 min Work life (after spreading) 1 - 1.5 hrs • Clear sealed finish to diamond ground concrete. Touch dry 8 hrs Light foot traffic 4 hrs Full cure 7 days Min. over coating time 12 hrs Max. over coating time 48 hrs Density of resin (mixed) 1.07 Mix ratio (Base:Activator) 2:1 v / v VOC g/ℓ (EPA Method 24) 35 • Low viscosity Application temperature range >15ºC & <35ºC SUBSTRATE REQUIREMENTS Do not apply coating if humidity is in excess of 85% @21ºC or 75% @ 10ºC • Fine sand bulked up for a scraper coat repair work prior to twin pack/two part decorative floor application finishes. ADVANTAGES • Proven system • Universal formulation • Solvent free • Reduced moisture and carbon dioxide sensitivity • Cures well down to +10°C • Easily applied • Good chemical resistance • Less sensitive against humidity The concrete substrate must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm2) with a minimum pull off strength of 1.5 N/mm2. Do not apply coating if the substrate temperature is at least 3ºC (5ºC is better) above dew point. Must be free from rising damp. Dry to a moisture content below 75% RH as per BS 8203; 1987 a.b.e.® is an ISO 9001:2008 registered company PO Box 5100, Boksburg North, 1461, South Africa Website: www.abe.co.za | Tel: +27(0) 11 306 9000 Durban | Johannesburg | Cape Town | Port Elizabeth | East London | Bloemfontein | George DATE UPDATED: 22/06/15 MIXING HEALTH & SAFETY Kit components are pre-weighed for optimum performance.
