The course provides an extensive knowledge in make-up design, the creation of prosthetics, and the creation of special effects. Students in this course are given the chance to demonstrate their creativity and are shown the tricks and twists of the industry through real life opportunities on film/theatre sets. Life skills or prior work experience may also enable you to gain recognition for parts of the course. TRAINING & ASSESSMENT MODES Delivery of this course is undertaken in a simulated salon environment. Theory is delivered through online access to our lectures. Practical training is delivered in the classroom environment where a combination of practical and theory sessions, class activities and group participation is part of the delivery strategy. Students are to provide models for class as and when required. Assessment is undertaken on a continuous basis throughout the enrolment period. Assessment methods may include all or a combination of the following: • Practical Demonstration • Written/Theory • Class presentations • Oral Questions/explanations/discussions • Treatment Plans/Case Studies • Student treatment logbooks • Portfolios • Assignments • Tasks Student treatment plans/case studies are part of the gathering of evidence on a range of clients with different requirements. It is also a requirement of the course that a PORTFOLIO be completed with at least 30 characters to provide evidence that these characters are authentic and performed by the student in class. These assessment methods must be completed before any qualifications can be issued. The College from time to time has offers of work experience for students. All students are encouraged to undertake this work experience to ensure they demonstrate their employability skills in the workplace.
