MCLC Summer Schedule
The Michael Czichotzki Learning Center is Free for all Access Clients & their Staff!
starting in June and is subject to change depending on staff availability

Ongoing Monthly Activities
Inspire Lab- Free group science experiments the second Monday of every month from 5:00 pm – 6:00
pm at the Moorhead Center Mall. This has been a great event that both staff and clients have really
enjoyed. Summer dates are June 8th, July 13th and August 10th
Healthy Cooking Class- Unsure how long this will continue, as for now it will remain every other
Thursday at the MCLC from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. Summer dates currently are June 4th, June 18th, July 2nd,
July 30th, August 13th and August 27th. This class may end sometime this summer. We will replace it
with drama club, bingo or another activity that clients would enjoy if it ends before September.
Fun Walk, Run & Roll- This new activity will be a monthly adaptive marathon at the outdoor track
at Townsite Park (near McDonalds). Choose your speed and choose the distance you want to walk, run
or roll. It will be the last Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm. MCLC will be close a bit early on these days
to give people time to get to the outdoor track. Summer dates are: June 30th, July 28th and August 25th.
One-Time Access Events
Teddy Bear Parade- A group of Access clients participating on Friday, June 19th at 10:30 am.
We
will join the activities for Midwest Kids Fest after. Let Scott Ecker know if your client is interested.
MCLC Water Day- On Tuesday, June 23rd from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the MCLC there will be water
balloons and other aquatic activities. Bring a change of clothes and a towel & leave electronics indoors!
Access Prom- There will be a special Prom just for Access clients on Thursday, July 9th from 5:30 pm –
6:30 pm. It will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Moorhead, near Days Inn and interstate.
Annual Company Picnic- Free food & fun at Gooseberry from 3:00– 6:00 on Thursday, July 16th.
Special August Activity- There will be another special event around Tuesday, August 4th at the
MCLC. Potentially a Music Therapy Day or some sort of sensory based activity.
Chahinkapa Zoo Trip- The annual trip to Wahpeton will be sometime in mid-to-late August.
Available Free Passes
Currently Scott Ecker has 44 passes to Thunder Road. There are also several passes for Section 9, Clay
Your Way, Skateland, MSUM Wellness Center, The Planetarium, The Hjemkomst Center, Marcus
Theatres, Plains Art Museum, Scheel’s Ferris Wheel, The Rourke.
Moorhead Municipal Pool Information
The pool at Romkey Park (near MSUM) is a popular summer destination for clients. Their summer hours
are 12:30 – 4:30 and 6:30 – 8:30 every day. The cost of admission is $2.50 with individual summer
passes available for $35.00. Scholarships are available for clients needing financial assistance.
Remember that sun screen will be needed for this. Pool is open from June 6th to August 17th.
Red River Valley Fair Information
There is free gate admission for the fair Monday-Friday from 11:00 pm – 1:00 pm. You can enter free
during this time and stay for the rest of the day. Rides will still cost money. The fair runs from Tuesday,
July 7th to Sunday July 12th.
Thunder Road Times and Prices
Starting on Saturday May 23rd Fargo’s Thunder Road will be open every day from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm.
The prices are mini golf ($6.50 for 18 holes, $10 for 36), go karts ($5.50), batting cages ($3 for 25 balls),
bumper cars ($4.00), arcade ($0.25 per token) and lazer tag ($7.50 for 10 minutes). Limited passes
available at the office for one free activity.
Red River Zoo Times and Prices
Zoo summer hours are 10:00 am – 7:00 pm every day. Admission is $6.75 for children 2-14, $8.75 for
clients over 14. Staff receives free admission if they say they are a caregiver. Clients have to pay.
Other Discounts
Remember that there is still a discount at Skyzone for staff: $3.00 jumps if you say you are a caregiver
(orange socks are still required and cost $2.00, but you can bring old ones). There are staff discounts at
Sunset Lanes, All-Star Bowl and The Bowler if you mention you are a caregiver. Access clients pay $5.00
to use the indoor pool and mini-golf at Moorhead’s Days Inn (although often times they let us in for
free). You can always check out a free YMCA pass from the front desk and use their gym.
Geocaching
Use your phone or GPS for online scavenger hunts. Just go to www.geocaching.com
Outdoor Equipment Available
There are Frisbee golf sets at the front desk available for check-out. Use them at the Disc Golf Course at
Woodlawn Park near the office. There is also outdoor equipment that can be used at the MCLC such as
bocce and a basketball hoop.
Moorhead Driving Ranges
Village Green and Meadows driving ranges only cost $5.00. They also usually let clients use a golf club.
You can check out a club from the MCLC too if needed, but it must be returned that shift.
