ACCOLADE HOUSE
Monthly Newsletter
24TH FEBRUARY, 2015
It has been a very challenging but worthwhile
experience in the new school building. The
move took a lot out of us but God has been
faithful and has continued to help us. We
appreciate you for coming with us.
I want to especially thank the Parents who
have been very helpful in pointing out our
goods and making constructive criticism. You
make us better. My appreciation goes out to
the amazing parents who came around on
the 21st of February for the Parents Teachers’
Forum. You presence and contributions were
very impressive. We have started work on the
action points and will soon make our findings
known to you. A very big ‘Thank You’ to
those parents who have already paid their
PTF fee. This is very encouraging. May God
bless you all.
It is no doubt that the first half of this term
was a bit unsteady, however, we are looking
forward to the next half of the term with
great expectations. Please let us not forget to
encourage our children to read and do their
creative writing. Encourage them to think
independently, don’t think for them.
I hope they will enjoy the break and please
don’t forget to help your children with their
assignments.
See you on Monday! God bless you.
Aunty Mfon.

the reading culture and also reading
with them at home.
5. Being part of our mother’s day
celebration on the 6th of March.
Finally I want to also thank those who took
time out to attend the open house and
made useful contributions and suggestions
to teachers.
I appreciate you and thank you for giving
me a welcoming environment to work in.
God bless you and have a peaceful half term
break.
Mrs. Adebayo.
PRESCHOOL NEWS
Our theme for the first half of the term was
“Plants”. The children were taught the
different parts of a plant and the things
plants need to grow which include good soil,
water and sunlight. Every child then planted
a bean seed and watered it daily. This gave
them the opportunity to watch the plants
grow. It was a very exciting and involving
topic for us. The younger preschoolers made
collages and paintings of plants. Another
interesting aspect of our theme was our
garden, located behind the preschool where
we planted different things including beans,
moringa, pumpkin, etc.
In the next half of the term, we will be
treating the theme “Fruits” which will build
on the previous theme “Plants”. It promises
to be stimulating and educative.
NEWS FROM THE PRIMARY SECTION
We had a fun filled half term. The graders
have been occupied with learning, spelling
bee rehearsals, reading books and many
more activities. The spelling bee contest
which was to hold in the first half of the term
has been postponed till after mid-term. We
apologize for that and appeal to parents to
please help their children learn all the words
that have been sent home in preparation for
the contest. More details about this will be
communicated in due course.

We are proud to announce that we also learnt how to be responsible citizens as we
received our voters’ cards and proceeded to vote in the just concluded school
elections. The votes were counted and the winners announced at the close of
school. It was a free and fair election, the following winners emerged:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Reje Etta – Head Girl.
Somtochukwu Iroabuchi – Head Boy.
Lolade Bello – Assistant Head Girl.
Angel Ankeli – Assembly Prefect.
The post of assistant head boy is yet to be filled as the two there was a tied in
votes. The school is working out a means of selection that will be free and fair.
The graders had their 1st and 2nd assessment tests and the results were impressive,
but we know it can be better. In the meantime, projects and home works have been
sent home today; we implore parents to please assist the children where necessary
and at the same time give them the freedom they need to work independently. We
look forward to seeing everyone rested and ready to break new grounds and
achieve success in the concluding
part of the term.
