Aspen Creek Monthly Happenings – April 2015 Issue #8 Volume #2 From our principal’s desk… Parents, The year is moving very fast… I guess the older I get, the faster things move along. Check the school calendar, Weekly Update, and classroom newsletter for all things going on at Aspen Creek. With all the snow days we had this winter, our last day of school is May 28th. On the 28th, we will have Super Kids Day! Awards assembly will be on May 27th… 9:30 for K-2 and 2:00 for 3-5. All are welcome to attend and bring your cameras. Our PTA is the best in the district, in my opinion. Recently they purchased new swings and another spinny toy for the playground. Kids love them! If you happen to see a PTA officer, let them know how much you appreciate what they do for our school. If you have any questions about anything do not hesitate to call or email. The School-wide Earth Day Picnic is on Friday, April 24th. Running Club: Rooster Run registration forms are coming home this week! Many of the running club sponsors will be participating in one (or more) of the races, and we’d love to see you there! The Rooster Run is Saturday, May 2nd at 8:00 a.m. Care Club/Rachel’s Challenge: Rachel’s Challenge Walk-a-Thon for 2XL & 3XL) will be Saturday, May 2nd from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Lots of fun for the whole family. If you need a permission form, see Mrs. Curtsinger. Congratulations to Mrs. Beach for receiving a grant from the Broken Arrow Foundation to startup the Lego Club at Aspen Creek. While the grant will help her purchase some Legos to get started, Mrs. Beach could still use more donations. You can donate new or gently used Legos or give money towards purchasing new Legos... anything will help. We are so excited to be able to bring the Lego Club to Aspen Creek for our deserving students! Clark, Guthrie, and Denton are going on April 30th . Mrs. Beach and Ms. Westman are going on May 1st. 2nd grade is going to the Linnaeus Teaching Gardens. Grass and Stiles will go on April 9th. Brake, Kell, and Sutton will go on April 17th. 5th grade is going to Gilcrease. Farris, Snider, and half of Griffiths will go on April 1st. Hodge, Wilhelm, and half of Griffiths will go on April 2nd. There will be a parent meeting to plan/organize 5th Grade Day on Tuesday, April 7th at 4 p.m. in Mrs. Griffiths’ room.
