Morning & Afternoon Programs

INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGES (Ages 5 to 13)
Cost: *$20
International Language classes (other than English and French) are offered outside
regular school hours to all elementary school children from all school boards. Students
who will be entering SK to grade 8 as of Sept. 2015 may register. The program is funded
by the Ontario Ministry of Education and will be of interest to students who wish to
preserve their language, cultural heritage and traditions, and to students who wish to
study the language and heritage of another culture.
FRENCH IMMERSION
Cost: $159
(YCDSB students entering Grade 1 French Immersion)
This summer program is primarily designed for YCDSB students entering Grade 1 French
Immersion in Sept. 2015. While any exposure to a second language is beneficial, the
French Immersion program will broaden and deepen that exposure as well as provide
non-francophone children with a high degree of proficiency in the French language.
FRENCH CONVERSATION (Grades 1 - 6)
Cost: $159
This program provides students in grades 1-6 as of Sept. 2015, early French language
experiences in an interactive and artistic environment. The sounds of grammar are
introduced through dialogue and a mix of activities and interactive games, audio visual,
music, and art. Children will study the language through active participation and
conversation in an environment where young children can be fully immersed in the
new language and learn it naturally through play.
READING READINESS (Grades 1 & 2 )
Cost: $249
Children entering Grade 1 or 2 will explore the world of reading readiness skills that
will help them learn how to read successfully. Students will be given an opportunity
to develop their reading readiness skills and become excited about learning how to
read. This summer program will help foster a greater sense of confidence as students
experience the essential skills of reading readiness through various engaging activities.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT (Grades 7 & 8)
Cost: *$20
This program will provide students in grades 7 or 8 as of Sept. 2015 with additional
academic support in reading, writing and mathematics. This program complies with
the Ministry of Education curriculum and is Ministry funded. There is no cost for this
program, other than a non-refundable $20 consumable fee due upon registration.
FREE Lunchtime Supervision
For children registered for BOTH morning and afternoon
programs at the same location.
TECHNOHERO (Grades 3 - 5)
Cost: $249
Students in grades 3 to 5 as of Sept. 2015 will learn the tools to create multimedia
presentations which will serve them well in school and at home. With the introduction
to TechnoHERO, children will review correct keystrokes, ergonomics and improve their
ability to interact with the computer and combine words, pictures, sounds, animation,
and video into persuasive, powerful and empowering communication vehicles.
TECHNOFLASH (Grades 5 - 8)
Cost: $249
Students in grades 5 to 8 as of Sept. 2015 will develop animations for their
presentations and projects. The basics of TechnoFLASH will be covered such as:
timeline, tweening, objects, symbols, layers, sound, etc. Students should have basic
computer skills, such as: mouse clicks, file navigation, and basic software knowledge.
A basic understanding of web design would be helpful. This is not for the novice
computer user.
CREATIVE HANDS (Grades 1 - 3)
Cost: $249
This art program will help students in grades 1 to 3 as of Sept. 2015 develop their
creativity by learning to express themselves in visual ways. Students will learn the
basic principles of art and drawing and will learn how to express himself/herself
using different types of media such as crayon, pencil, paint and paper. As well they
will learn about the visual elements of line, shape and texture , colour names, colour
mixing techniques and more .
ART 4 KIDS (Grades 4 - 6)
Cost: $249
Students entering grades 4 to 6 as of Sept. 2015 will learn how media, technique
and process are used to create works of art; how art has a variety of functions; how
to identify, analyze and select subject matter, how historical and cultural contexts
provide meaning for works of art, and how to assess the merits of their own artworks
and the artworks of others.
