About the Role
This role is responsible for the leadership of the TAL Individual Business Profitability
and Finance function, including capital funding and reinsurance. This encompasses
the successful development and delivery of TAL Individual’s reinsurance, capital
deployment and risk management strategy.
Key responsibilities include
Development of the TAL’s Individual reinsurance strategy.
Manage TAL’s Individual reinsurance profile, appetite and relationships
Development of TAL’s Individual capital deployment strategy
Development of channel remuneration and financing programs.
Provide actuarial and financial management support to the General Manager of
Individual Insurance
 Ensure that the TAL Individual products maintain the appropriate balance capital
funding and risk transfer
 Take an active role in developing the Profitability, Value and Insight team building
a strong team culture focussing on inter-departmental collaboration and team
based performance





About You
You will be a qualified actuary with at least 5 years post qualification experience and
an in-depth knowledge of the Australian life insurance market. You will possess
proven, senior-level, actuarial and business management skills and have
demonstrable experience in delivering strategic outcomes on multiple tasks and
projects within budget and planned timeframes.
You will have strong communication skills and a high level of commercial acumen.
You will lead your team by example and have the ability to Influence, communicate
and negotiate optimal business outcomes with senior executive and stakeholders
Pricing Manager
About the Role
This role is positioned as the 2IC to the Head of Pricing, and is responsible for
assisting in the day to day management of the Pricing function, which encompasses
the successful delivery of the actuarial pricing and ongoing profitability management
of TAL’s Individual Life product offering.
Key responsibilities include
 Delivering product pricing and actuarial product advice according to agreed
business policies
 Ensuring that TAL’s Individual Life products maintain the appropriate balance of
market attractiveness and target profit margins
 Proactively contributing to the end to end product management lifecycle for the
Individual Life business
 Managing the development and maintenance of pricing models, including their
incorporation into Valuation processes
 Supporting the management of reinsurance profitability and pricing
 Managing the production of manual quotes and the provision of other ad hoc
actuarial calculations to support the business as required
 Designing and implementing effective channel and sales team remuneration
programs
 Developing a strong team culture focusing on inter-departmental collaboration
and team based performance
 Taking an active role in developing the junior members of the team and coach
them in the achievement of business unit goals
 Assisting and mentoring the junior members of the team
About You
You will be a qualified actuary with at least 3 years post qualification experience and

Value & Insights Actuary
About the Role
This role is accountable for the development, support and delivery of TAL’s
Individual Business Value and Insights function. This encompasses the development
of TAL’s Individual customer value and retention strategy, claims strategy and
operational strategy.
The Value and Insights Partner is a key business partner with sales, product,
marketing, claims, underwriting, customer service and operations and finance
responsible for providing value driven insight and advice to create value in all areas
of the Individual Life value chain.
Key responsibilities include
 Build retention, claims, operational and distribution programs that align to the
objectives and defined strategies and formulate clear performance metrics and
success measures.
 Implement the programs in partnership with sales, product, marketing, customer
service, claims, finance and operations.
 Formulate clear performance metrics for retention, claims, operations and
distribution activity.
 Engage with the Business Intelligence team to develop and improve our ability to
understand the causes and changes in core business levers such as claims and
lapse and improve the effectiveness of retention activity.
 Develop and manage a clear and concise value driven reporting function for TAL
senior management and business partners.
 Contribute to a cohesive, objective driven customer and value retention strategy
and claims strategy for the Individual business.
About You
You will possess a tertiary qualification in Actuarial Studies, Finance, Mathematics or
Science and have prior experience in either pricing or valuation. Ideally you will have
Commercial Actuarial or Life Insurance Knowledge. Prior experience in customer
retention claims strategy or project management would be desirable.
You will have excellent problem solving and analytical skills and have a high level of
commercial acumen
