Valuation Actuary - Institute of Actuaries of Australia

Exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing global reinsurer recently
established in Sydney. Working closely with senior management this role has
responsibility for financial reporting for Australia and NZ.
The Role
We have a newly created role for a Valuation Actuary to join the Sydney office. In conjunction with
the Appointed Actuary and Head of Research, the Valuation Actuary will be responsible for all of the
actuarial aspects of the financial reporting for the business written in Australia and New Zealand by
Pacific Life Re Australia (“PLRA”). The incumbent will be responsible for developing, maintaining and
continuously improving processes around PLRA’s financial reporting and will provide key inputs to
the local and global management teams in terms of the financial performance of the business and
the drivers of the financial results.
The successful incumbent will require reasonable understanding of the Australian / New Zealand life
insurance industry, preferably in respect of risk products and knowledge of Australian financial
reporting requirements including AIFRS and LAGIC. You will be a Qualified Actuary (FIAA or
equivalent), with excellent technical actuarial and analytical skills, and the ability to independently
develop and implement new methodologies. A high level of comfort using software packages, such
as Excel, Access and Word will be required and experience with Actuarial projection software such as
MoSes will be highly regarded.
