BCC–Florida Tech Track
A Fact Sheet for Undergraduate Students
Florida Institute of Technology has
long been a premier educational choice
for Florida high school graduates.
Florida Tech is now partnered with
Brevard Community College to create
the BCC–Florida Tech Track. This is
a dual-admission program designed
to help Florida high school graduates
pursue an Associate of Arts degree from
Brevard Community College followed
by a bachelor’s degree at Florida Tech’s
Melbourne campus.
Who is eligible to participate in the
BCC–Florida Tech Track?
• Any Florida high school student who has completed
the full-time undergraduate application process for
Florida Tech
• Any currently enrolled Brevard Community College
student who applies to Florida Tech before earning
30 credits at Brevard Community College
Which students might benefit from the BCC–
Florida Tech Track?
• Students who need additional preparation prior to
attending Florida Tech
• The student who is admitted to Florida Tech but
whose financial circumstances prevent enrollment
as a full-time, first-year student
• Currently enrolled Brevard Community College
students who have earned fewer than 30 credits and
plan to complete their full-time baccalaureate studies at Florida Tech

Must a student apply to Brevard Community
College as well as Florida Tech to be
eligible?
Yes. Students interested in the BCC–Florida
Tech Track must apply to enroll in an approved
Associate of Arts degree program. All applicants
to BCC are required to submit a $25 nonrefundable application fee. As a degree seeking
student, you will need to submit an official copy
of your high school transcripts (showing graduation date and courses completed) or official
copies of college/university transcripts from each
post secondary institution attended. Applicants
seeking in-state fees must show documented
proof of residency for the 12 months preceding
their term of enrollment.
Is the BCC–Florida Tech Track open to
students for all major areas of study at
Florida Tech?
Yes. In some majors, Florida Tech has
an articulation agreement with Brevard
Community College. In those areas where
the course of study is not clearly articulated,
academic advisers from Brevard Community
College and Florida Tech will assist the student
in the proper selection of courses. However,
it is recommended that students enroll in the
Associate of Arts degree program at Brevard
Community College to maximize the number of
transfer credits given at Florida Tech.
BCC–Florida Tech Track
Reputation: Florida Tech is ranked
a Tier One Best National University
by U.S. News & World Report and has
been named among the “Best in the
Southeast” by Princeton Review. In
addition, Florida Tech has been ranked
a Barron’s Guide “Best Buy,” and the
top private university in Florida by
Washington Monthly.
Outcomes: The 2010–2011 College
Salary Report published by PayScale.com places the salaries for Florida Tech
bachelor’s degree graduates at the top of
the list for private research universities
in Florida. The average starting salary of
recent graduates is over $55,000.
Campus: Florida Tech encompasses
130 subtropical acres including a
lush botanical garden. It is located in
Melbourne, Fla., the heart of the “Space
Coast.”
Enrollment: 2,413 full-time
undergraduates studying at the
Melbourne campus, with 54% living on
campus. Entire student body represents
50 states and more than 100 countries
overall.

History: Founded in 1958 by
visionary physicist Jerome P. Keuper
to educate area professionals working
on the U.S. space program, Florida
Institute of Technology got its start
with an initial donation of 37 cents.
Alumni: Around 50,000 graduates,
including five space shuttle astronauts,
an Olympic medalist, a National Teacher
of the Year and three four-star generals.

How should students apply for
financial aid?
Both Brevard Community College and Florida
Tech require students to submit the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA),
which should be filed as soon as possible after
Jan. 1. Students eligible for the BCC–Florida
Tech Track must request that the Student Aid
Report from FAFSA be sent to both Brevard
Community College (Code 001470) and Florida
Tech (Code 001469).
Does Florida Tech offer any scholarships
or grants to Brevard Community College
students?
Brevard Community College graduates are
awarded a BCC-Florida Tech Achievement
Grant of $6,000, equivalent to what an in-state
resident would pay for the cost of an associate
degree program ($3,000 will be disbursed in
each of the junior and senior years at Florida
Tech). If academic merit warrants, a student
will instead be awarded a Transfer or Phi
Theta Kappa scholarship (he or she will be
awarded the highest scholarship; they do not
stack). Florida Tech Connection students are
eligible for admissions incentives and needbased financial assistance. The Florida Tech
Army ROTC program also offers full tuition
scholarships to stu­dents with the desire to
become commissioned U.S. Army officers.
How does a BCC–Florida Tech Track
student move from Brevard Community
College to Florida Tech?
BCC–Florida Tech Track students must
achieve a 2.5 cumulative GPA in their course
of study at Brevard Community College to
enroll at Florida Tech with the $6,000 BCC–
Florida Tech Achievement Grant. Students
should request that Brevard Community
College send their transcript to Florida
Tech and then call the Florida Tech Office of
Admission to indicate that they are prepared
to enroll for the following term.
Are there other benefits for students in
the BCC–Florida Tech Track?
The BCC–Florida Tech Track student will
have a Florida Tech academic adviser in
addition to a Brevard Community College
adviser during their course of study at
Brevard Community College. They will
be invited to a BCC–Florida Tech Track
orientation at Florida Tech at the beginning
of their first term.
