CHOP CASSEROLE
1 20-ounce can H e i n z Beans in T o m a t o Sauce or
with P o r k and T o m a t o Sauce
3^ cup chopped onion
M teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Heinz T o m a t o K e t c h u p
3 m e d i u m size pork chops
H e a t o v e n to 350° F . C o m b i n e first 4 ingredients.
Pour into 1 quart casserole. B r o w n pork chops in
skillet. P l a c e on top of beans. B a k e , uncovered,
in m o d e r a t e o v e n (350° F . ) 1 t o
hours or until
meat is tender. M a k e s 3 servings.
BOSTON BEAN, TOMATO, AND
CHEESE CASSEROLE
1 15-ounce can H e i n z Beans, Boston Style
1 t o m a t o , sliced
H teaspoon salt
teaspoon pepper
YL cup grated process sharp cheese
H e a t o v e n t o 375° F . T u r n beans into 1 quart
casserole. Arrange t o m a t o slices on t o p and sprinkle
w i t h salt and pepper. Sprinkle grated cheese over
top and fill tomatoes. B a k e in a moderately slow o v e n
(325° F . ) 25 minutes or until tomatoes are tender.

CHEESY BEAN RAREBIT

15-ounce can H e i n z Beans in T o m a t o Sauce
lb. (1 cup) grated process sharp cheese
tablespoon butter
teaspoon H e i n z Worcestershire Sauce
cup milk
4 slices toast
H e a t beans in a saucepan. I n top of double boiler,
heat cheese, butter, Worcestershire sauce, and milk
until cheese is melted. Serve beans on slices of toast
t o p p e d w i t h cheese sauce. M a k e s 4 servings.
TOMATO BEAN DRESSING
% cup H e i n z Beans in T o m a t o Sauce
2 teaspoons Heinz C i d e r Vinegar
lA cup finely chopped celery
2 tablespoons minced onion
teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons salad dressing
M a s h beans. C o m b i n e w i t h remaining ingredients.
Chill. Serve on lettuce w e d g e s .

lightly.
A d d water, bay leaf, and garlic.
Simmer,
uncovered, 10 minutes. R e m o v e b a y leaf and garlic.
T u r n chili sauce, beans, and meat mixture into a 1
quart casserole. B a k e in moderate o v e n (350° F . )
45 minutes or until beans are hot. M a k e s 3 to 4

H e a t o v e n to 400 0 F . B r o w n steak and onions in f a t
in skillet. A d d remaining ingredients and mix well.
T u r n i n t o 1 quart casserole. B a k e in m o d e r a t e l y h o t
o v e n (400° F . ) 25 minutes or until beans are hot.

}/i cup H e i n z Chili Sauce

6 wieners (frankfurters)
6 whole cloves

Insert a clove in each wiener. Arrange 3 wieners in
b o t t o m of \y 2 quart casserole. Pour bean mixture
over wieners. T o p with remaining wieners. B a k e in
moderate o v e n (350 ° F . ) 30 minutes or until beans are
h o t . M a k e s 3 servings.
BAKED BEANS, DAIRY STYLE
2 15-ounce cans H e i n z Beans in T o m a t o Sauce,

N o 2 can whole kernel corn, drained (1 %/i cups)

P o r k and T o m a t o Sauce
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons flour
Y% teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons w a t e r
I n a Dutch o v e n or skillet brown veal and onion in
f a t . A d d next 5 ingredients and simmer, covered, for
30 minutes, uncovered for 15 minutes.
Combine
flour and water.
A d d to veal mixture and mix well.
C o o k until thickened. M a k e s 6 servings.
KIDNEY BEANS IN TOMATO CUPS
2 to 3 medium tomatoes
1 15-ounce can drained Heinz R e d K i d n e y Beans
2 tablespoons minced onion
K cup chopped celery
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 teaspoons H e i n z Distilled W h i t e Vinegar
C u t thin slices f r o m stem end of tomatoes and remove
pulp. Sprinkle t o m a t o cups with salt. C o m b i n e remaining ingredients.
Fill t o m a t o cups and chill.
Serve on watercress. M a k e s 2 to 3 servings.
BEAN CLUB SANDWICH
12 to 14 slices bacon
1 15-ounce can H e i n z Beans in T o m a t o Sauce
XA cup minced onion
2 teaspoons H e i n z Worcestershire Sauce
18 to 21 slices bread, toasted
Mayonnaise
Lettuce
2 slices t o m a t o for each sandwich
F r y bacon until crisp. Drain.
Mash beans until all
beans are partially broken.
A d d onions and W o r cestershire sauce; mix well. Spread 1 slice toast w i t h
mayonnaise.
A r r a n g e lettuce, bacon, and tomatoes
on toast. C o v e r with second slice of toast and spread
with bean mixture.
C o v e r with third slice of toast.
C u t diagonally. Serve with pickles.
Makes 6 to 7

STUFFED TOMATOES-HEINZ
BEANS W I T H SLICED WIENERS
5 large t o m a t o e s
4 slices of bacon diced
K cup chopped green p e p p e r
1 can (or t i n ) of H e i n z Beans with Sliced W i e n e r s
YL teaspoon salt
Y% teaspoon p e p p e r
H e a t o v e n to 325° F . ( m o d e r a t e ) .
C u t a slice f r o m
stem end of tomatoes a n d scoop out pulp.
Drain
pulp. Saute bacon until
crisp. R e m o v e
from
skillet, then saute green peppers in bacon f a t .
Combine bacon, green peppers, beans, drained pulp and
seasoning. Fill tomatoes with this mixture.
Bake
in 325 ° o v e n for 25 minutes or until tomatoes are
tender.

layers. Spread a small amount of ketchup over each
layer. C u t bacon slices in half and notch edges t o

b a k e in a moderate o v e n ( 3 7 5 ° F . ) 35 minutes.

KIDNEY BEAN SALAD (1)

3 strips b a c o n

1 m e d i u m apple, pared, cored, and finely diced
1 cup finely chopped green pepper
2 slices Canadian cheese, finely diced
2 teaspoons H e i n z Cider Vinegar
D r a i n kidney beans. F r y bacon until crisp.
Drain,
then break into small pieces. A d d b a c o n and remaining ingredients to beans and mix thoroughly.
Chill. Serve in nest o f lettuce w i t h mayonnaise.
M a k e s 4 servings.

KIDNEY BEAN SALAD (2)
1 15-ounce can H e i n z R e d K i d n e y Beans
4 H e i n z Preserved S w e e t Pickles, chopped
3 hard-cooked eggs, sliced (save 6 slices for garnishing)
H cup chopped celery
2 tablespoons finely c h o p p e d o n i o n
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon H e i n z C i d e r V i n e g a r
3 t o 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
Drain beans. A d d remaining ingredients and m i x
carefully. Chill. Serve in lettuce nests and garnish
w i t h egg slices a n d parsley. M a k e s 5 servings.
ALL-BRAN MOLASSES HOT BREAD
1 cup All-Bran
% cup hot water
Y cup seedless raisins
1 egg
2 tablespoons shortening
1 cup sifted flour
Yi cup molasses
1 teaspoon baking soda
Y teaspoon salt
y 2 teaspoon cinnamon (if desired)
1. Measure A l l - B r a n , raisins, shortening,
molasses
into mixing bowl.
A d d hot water, stir until shortening is melted. A d d e g g ; beat well.
2. S i f t together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon; add to
All-Bran mixture, stirring only until combined.
3. Fill 2 greased cans ( H e i n z Bean Cans) about %
full. B a k e in moderate o v e n (350 ° F . ) about 45 min.
(or in 8 x 8 in. pan, 350 0 F., 35 min.)
