“War by Other Means:
Black Radicals and the Fiction
of Drug Rehabilitation, 1966-1974”
Jessica Matuozzi is a fifth-year doctoral candidate in Yale's English and African-American Studies
departments. She is currently working on her dissertation, entitled Busted: The War on Drugs in
American Culture. She has been published in English Literary History and has an article on Wallace
Thurman forthcoming in the Encyclopedia of African-American Culture, ed. Gerald Early. Her other
research interests include anarchist studies and cultural historiography.
