Throughout this year our teachers have been working diligently to prepare our students for these critically important benchmark exams. Affton High School students have made tremendous gains over the last 5 years, so we are confident that our students will be very successful. The purpose of this letter is to make you aware of some changes to Affton High School’s daily class schedule to accommodate the EOC and ACT testing occurring, share some pointers to ensure students are rested & prepared for each day, and provide contact information for additional questions. EOC TESTING & SCHEDULE EOC testing will begin on Monday, April 20th and conclude on Monday, April 27th. This will impact students who take the following courses (including Honors): English 2, Algebra 1, Government, Biology, and only Mr. Boley’s Algebra 2/Trigonometry students. We will be running a special schedule for each of the EOC testing dates; a copy of this schedule has been included with this letter and we encourage you review it with your student(s). South County Tech is aware of our schedule here at Affton High School. Students who have educational disabilities will be contacted by their Case Managers to address their specific needs and testing locations. IMPORTANT TESTING TALKING POINTS FOR PARENTS • Students should be well rested & on time. Students are required to make-up their EOC and this could affect their ability to participate in events planned on 4/28. • Students should eat breakfast each morning, if not – free breakfast will be provided. • Chromebooks will be used for testing. They should be fully recharged each night. All Missouri secondary public schools will be administering the ACT on Tuesday, April 28th during the school day. Affton High School will run a special schedule of activities for the 9th, 10th, and 12th graders designed to accommodate ACT testing requirements in the building; however, juniors will report by 7:40 a.m. Dismissal will occur for all students at 1:30 p.m. To comply with ACT testing standards, testing must be the first activity of the day; upon arrival Juniors will report to a series of predetermined classrooms and will follow the required ACT testing schedule. This schedule is strictly enforced by ACT and must be followed to ensure test security & score validity. Juniors will eat lunch at the conclusion of ACT testing. This will be the only activity the Junior class will engage in on April 28th. If your student has an IEP or 504 plan, ACT has determined what, if any, accommodations will be permitted. Case Managers have been notified and can share approved accommodation information with parents. IMPORTANT TESTING TALKING POINTS FOR PARENTS • Students should be rested and on time. • Students must have a photo ID to be admitted to test (School or Driver’s License). • Students should bring two sharpened #2 non-mechanical pencils & a magic rub eraser. • Students should bring a calculator, but it must be ACT approved.
