The Building Blocks of Effective Trade Facilitation
Bonnie Ryan, GS1
The seamless transfer of accurate information along the supply chain is just as critical as the physical
and tangible infrastructure that supports Australia’s freight industry.
In the same way that traffic congestion and delays affect the transportation of goods, so too does
inconsistent data between suppliers, retailers, distributors and transport providers from origin to final
destination. Global Data Standards (GDS) will become an increasingly critical enabler for effective trade
facilitation; a framework that enables integration and collaboration across disparate parties, processes
and systems. This session will present a case study example of how end to end supply chain visibility
can be achieved in an open, collaborative, industry and technology neutral environment.
