Thank you to the following staff members who attended. Melissa Godeassi, Rachel Leahy, Suzanna Hoffman, Katie Bugeja, James Cracknell, Genevieve Dahlenburg, Your generosity with your time is greatly appreciated. You have all earned a wonderful two week break! Year 6 Transition to Year 7 In Week 1 of Term 2, Year 6 parents will receive a ‘Transition to Secondary’ pack. This will include information about making selections for secondary schools and the application form. Decisions about where to send your child need to be made by Friday22nd May. It is important for parents and children to be fully informed and comfortable with their decisions so please take some time to investigate the school’s websites and look out for school open days and tours. “Project Rockit” The Year 4 students were very fortunate to hear a presentation from the “Project Rockit” team about bullying. The talk was about accepting everyone for who they are acknowledging that we are all different and we should not make judgements about others. It was great and the students enjoyed the experience. Instrumental Music Andrew from Junior Rockers performed really well at lunch time yesterday for the students. Katani sang beautifully at assembly on Monday and Julian from 2DA was fantastic on the violin at Monday’s assembly. The instrumental music program provides music instruction in drums, keyboard, voice (singing), guitar and violin. If you would like to enrol your child into any of these classes next term please find the enrolment forms on our website under forms, instrumental music, or collect a form from the office. Classes commence first week so please have your forms with payment in by Monday13th April. “Chores for Charity” Thank you to the many students who did their chores throughout the week and donated their earnings toward our Cambodia fund raiser. We have raised $ 2846.80 so far. A special thank you to Alex in 2HT who donated his birthday money and to his mum for her wonderful donation too! Building Upgrade Project Thank you to the parents who were able to attend the discussion session regarding our upgrade project last Wednesday. One issue that was raised was the congestion at the exit gate near the office at 3:30pm. To address this issue we have decided to open the middle gate near the hall entrance so some parents can leave via that exit. It will be opened in the morning at 8:45am and closed at 3:45pm. Hopefully this will ease some of the congestion at the main exit. Another issue raised was the height of the toilets and the flush buttons in the infant toilets. Graeme, our maintenance man, will be sourcing quotes over the holidays for the installation of 3 small toilets like the ones found in kindergartens. We will also be looking at lowering the flush buttons. Thank you to the parents who attended. We really appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Thank you to the Hermon Family Thank you to the Hermon Family, Elaine, Michael, Evelyn and Abigail for hosting Jing our Chinese intern during Term 1. We thank Mary Sofis and Adam Janecek, parents of Alexander Sofis in Year 1, who will be hosting Jing during Term 2. I wish all the students and their families a happy and safe holiday. We look forward to seeing you all relaxed and ready to go on Monday the 13th of April. Cheryle Osborne KITCHEN/GARDEN NEWS UPDATE What an absolutely fabulous time we have been having in the kitchen and garden throughout this Term! While the pumpkins continue to grow to enormous proportions we have enjoyed preparing many recipes that have enabled us to appreciate the fresh produce that we harvest each week. The Eggplant Open Toastie, Corn Fritters and Rosti in Ramekins (a Swiss breakfast delicacy) were real hits in the kitchen. We must thank a regular volunteer to our kitchen, Cheryl Wilson, who has been instrumental in working with our young chefs to ensure a smooth operation. Of course we cannot forget all of the parents who have also contributed significantly to the success of the program. Meanwhile Seila and Graeme have been constructing the pizza oven that is beginning to resemble the Taj Mahal! Their work again, outside running the garden program and general maintenance, has been truly admirable. Well done to everyone. The fruits of your labour are illustrated in these photos. Finally, we would like to give parents of Year 4 students, who normally would not be able to experience our program in the day due to work commitments, to join us for an evening of dinner time cooking. Every student is to be accompanied by a parent with a total of 32 diners (16 students) participating in the evening’s activities. Please sign and return the slip below, to the office, if you are interested in joining us on Tuesday 21st April commencing at 6.00pm. First in best dressed!
